per an article in the observer...seems his views pissed off some sponsors so he left...or was forced to leave. Spires & Krantz was one of the top radio talk shows in the country.

krantz will be replaced in a few weeks, IMO. that show started to suck a long time ago...starting at about 4:30pm all the way through 6, it was just a solid commercial...I'd rather listen to Packman than commercials. I'd like to kill Ron Trazenski someday.

I wonder which sponsors didn't like him?

Liberals won't survive in this town . . . See Richard Klein (?; the guy who use to write for CREATIVE LOAFING and had a show on WBT for about 10 mins. . . . )

spires is a libertarian, he was a republican before that....I always took him to be way conservative...like pat buchanon. the article said he was going through a divorce too.

Fontana got fired...he was a conservative, an obnoxious SOB too. they fired Mattew Graham a few years ago too...another opinionated conservative. The sponsors run the show I guess.

What a great opportunity for Charlotte to improve its talk radio!! Spires and Krantz was pure drivel. I actually enjoy listening to John Hancock. Too bad I'm not in my car for much of his time.

Here's a great chance for a serious sports talk show that's not just about getting people fired up to call into the whiner line. Of course, i don't see that happening, because the reality of our area is that they typical sports fan in the area are the idiots who call into Packman's whiner line.

And even if its not sports-related, it'd still be nice for a host who was actually interesting and didn't make non-PC remarks disguised by their tone, so its "okay" to say it that way.

Why is it that the formula for successful talk radio is to say the most shocking things so that you create your own controversy?

And of course, Packman is indirectly taking credit for WBT continuing to have trouble at their station   (at the top of the 4pm hour . . David Poole mentioned the news in today's Observer . . . [adlib] 'Welll, there goes another one . . . ') . . . I want to know what Packman is smoking thinking that WBT is a mess today because of what he/WFNZ has done   . . . I'm sure Spire & Krantz overall numbers were light years beyond what PRIMETIME does in PM drivetime . . . . .

This sucks ass. :( I listened to Spires and Krantz all the time, especially after 9/11. I even went to Buffalo Tire to get the Spires & Krantz $15 auto physical. :) Now it's just the Krantz auto physical. I wrote Brad Krantz today inviting him to TBR and asked if he would pass the invite along to his former partner Richard Spires. He didn't write back though. That's understandable, since his mailbox has been packed full since Richard's departure. Today, he was counting emails on the air, saying they are coming in at least 2 per minute non stop. I feel bad for him. He says it's like losing a spouse all of a sudden. Brad talked to Richard more than he talked to his wife (his wife pointed that out). Even though Spires and Krantz had been together for only 4 years, it seemed like they had been best friends forever. Sometimes it would seem like they hated eachother's guts, but you could tell they were really close.

The show will never be the same without Richard Spires.

    3 :(
