Correct. But the movie version will be different. He will meet his demise when Gandalf and the others return to Isengard. If you want me to provide the spoiler on how he dies then let me know.

anyhoo...i have a question: anyone know if it was indeed written in the book that when the "hobbitses" returned to the shire, they were taller than everyone else by a few inches? and is it true samwise gange became mayor? and did eowyn die? how?

Sam did become mayor. After Rosie died he left for the undying lands.

Eowyn married Farramir

Celeborn and Galadriel DID NOT leave for the undying lands at the same time, Galadriel left asap but Celeborn remained behind and ruled Lothlorien for many years before leaving.

Gimli & Legolas did a tour of Middle Earth (covering the forests of Legolas's homeland and the Mountain Halls of Gimli's), after which they left for the undying lands.

5 counting the Silmarillion which i am about to finish. Tough read but well worth it IMO. Fills in a lot of blanks and answered a lot of questions that I had.

 

Merry and Pippin grew due to drinking the Ent draught. The scene was included in the extended edition of the Two Towers.

there is another book? oy! alrighty then. am on it. i might have to take leave to catch up...or, a long weekend will do. i think we got one coming this week. martin luther king, jr's birfday. heheheh...

obtw, i got both the extended versions of the fellowship of the ring and two towers. i cant wait for the extended version of the return of the king. they better include saruman's demise. i totally missed that.

side note: that pippin can sing in the movie! i loved that part where he sang while the idiot steward was eating. you know when the steward made him sing a song while he ate?

i loved that whole scene with the song and the battle.
