I totally 100% agree. They should have ended it like Animal House ;)

The ironic thing is, that's how the Extended Edition is gonna end, sorta.

FINALLY saw it yesterday. Scary spider had me curled up in my seat wanting to scream...EWWWW. And watching the giant elephants killing the horses was not fun...but it was well worth all that to see Viggo with his huge new sword. Yum.

Just watched it yesterday. It was a really great movie, but not sure which of the 3 I liked the best. Some of the slow parts I could have done without, and some of the left out parts could have taken their place.

I thought it was a great movie. Great battle scenes - Shelob was about perfect and so was the back and forth between Gollum and Sam - I'm not sure how they could give him an award with all the added CGI effects but Andy Serkis deserves something for the job he did as Gollum.

I thought Denethor running out and plunging over the side was a bit melodramatic but it's hard to find much to complain about.

As for the end of the movie it ended exactly the way the book did. I wish they could have included the scouring of the Shire and I hate they left out Saruman's demise. I heard they didn't even film any of that so it won't even be in the added footage of the DVD.

Can't wait to own the whole extended version trilogy on DVD.

The scouring of the Shire will not be in the extended version. He hinted towards the scouring in Fellowship when Frodo looked into Gladerial's mirror (Or water). Saruman's demise will be in the extended cut. Rumor has it over at aintitcool.com that the extended cut will be around 5 hours long. They will also have the mouth of Sauron (the train guy from Matrix revolutions).

Didn't Saruman's demise occur in the Shire?
