I have restless legs. Im taking mirapax for it. I have it so bad that it wakes me up and no matter what I do to try to calm it----it doesnt work. I have been told by my neuroligist that my restless legs is a symptom of an underlying cause that cant be found. If I dont take my meds for two days----I cant sit and watch tv in comfort. My legs feel like they have to be on the go all the time. Night is the worse. I wake every hour on the hour because my legs want to get up and go. But I dont just have it in my legs. I also have it in my arms and shoulders. I have had this crap for the past three years but in the past year it has gotten pretty bad. Believe me---disease or no disease-----it is not fun to have at all.

I don't doubt that it's no fun. Are you taking medication for anything unrelated?

Im taking Lyrica for the peripheal neuropathy and Soma every so often for the muscle spasms I get in my back. I also take once in a great while tramadol for pain----but only when I realy have to. The stuff keeps me awake all night. Great for the days though lol. I have tests on top of tests to find out what is causing the neuropathy but found nothing. My diagnosis is Idiopathic peripheal neuropathy. Im not on any other meds for anything else.

I hear that advanced stages of restless legs syndrome is called crazy legs or psychopathic legs.

I guess I wonder how many "new" disorders are caused by other medications or combinations of medications. The recent revelation that Prozac can actually make people more likely to commit suicide (along with that Wachovia guy murdering his twins) along with the fact that so many people these days are on multiple prescription medication makes it so it's hard to sort out what's actually going on in peoples' bodies at any given time.

I wasnt on any medication when my legs started to act up. I was doing my normal every night walks and stretch exercises.I still take my nightly walks and I still do stretch exercises but Im a little slower because of damaged nerves in my back. I did find out and I did it again last night that drinking lots of alcohol makes my legs act up. My medication I take didnt even work. Poor hubby, dogs and kitties had to leave the bed because I couldnt lay still.I know what you mean about multiple prescription stuff. For a couple of months last year I was on all kinds of meds. I couldnt stand it. I asked all three drs what are the meds I need the most and they weaned me off of at least four. All I want is the restless legs to stop. I can deal with walking like a turtle, I can deal with loosing sensation in my feet, legs and hands. I can deal with the tingling and pins and needles I get in my feet and hands. I just want for at least a day---not take any meds----- be able to sit comfortable and relax without my legs wanting to go somewheres.

Well then my legs are very much in the crazy stage and as far as being psychopathic----my legs dont need to be going in that direction lol, my brain already has gone there lol.

Actually, the crazy legs moniker came from an old indian chief that suffered from said malady, old Crazy Legs; you might of heard of him?
