don't cry cubs fans....or you pantherpaul

MARK PRIOR'S right elbow injury could be serious enough to require Tommy John surgery and keep him out for the whole year, according to the word circulating among baseball executives. Cubs manager DUSTY BAKER, who has a tendency to leave his starters in for extremely high pitch counts, has been confiding in friends that the situation is bleak. Losing Prior for an extended time would obviously be a big blow for the Cubs, who don't have a lot of wiggle room in their payroll budget to trade for another starter.

    FALSE!!!

He had an achillies injury and hasn't thrown much to prevent his arm from getting hurt because of a motion change. He won't be back until mid may or so because he has to get into game shape. He doesn't need tommy john surgery.

and what would we expect the cubs and baker to say to keep their fans hopes up? it may be off-base, but then again, it may be right on. either way, i would expect the tune out of chicago to be the same.

Losing Prior right now is the least of the Cubs' problems. They can't play defense, all Sosa wants to do is try to hit homers every time he's at bat so he can do his little hop instead of putting the ball in play, the team has no cohesion, Baker is losing whatever control of the team he had, and they have a huge mountain to climb to even think about making it as a wild card.

But...there's still a lot of baseball to be played.
