You can adjust the delays for things like how fast the TV can respond to an input change after the TV is turned on (all via the web interface).
You can make the dynamic buttons on the screen take on the common tasks for buttons that aren't mapped natively (on the 688, there is a guide button and list button that are crucial for TiVo use, but the main TiVo button itself I have on one of the LCD buttons).
I'll do it on mine tonight if you have trouble locating these settings, they were pretty straightforward if I remember correctly.

that is another thing I need to adjust. The buttons respond too slow. This thing with the tv changing inputs is enough to make me want to return it. I'm going to call support when I get home.

5 pages about remote controls :thud:

Wouldn't it save time and trouble to just get up and push the buttons?

I did some more programming on mine last night and set up some buttons next the screen menu

The KEY for me that I've found, is to not customize the remote in the actual device setting, but within the Activity.

I added a few like My Shows, Home, Replay, and Jump for the DirecTV. Those are in the remote already, it's just easier to find. And then when I hit Next, it brings up my surround controls so I can adjust the front, center, and rear channels

Davew has a different issue though, it's doing some extra things it shouldn't do. I'm thinking it's a software issue or the remote is defective.

I agree. I love the 680/688 for $100 or so, but $250 is nuts.
