the rechargeable one (880?) is listed for the same price as the 688 so i figure i'll wait for that. i suspect it'll drive the price of the 688 down some more, but i like the charging base gives you a place to put the dang thing and you don't need to sweat batteries. i'l have to make sure it passes visual muster as well (the 688 is a bit too cluttered looking).

let's hope. if the 688 can be had for under $150 and it's listed for the same $250 on logitech's website, then i would imagine that the 880 will be similarly priced...

    1) did you ever try the Harmony?
    2) what did you need to do what a Harmony wasn't capable of?

I can set delays between signals, queue up multiple commands behind a single button, customize the menus on the LCD, etc. And it's extremely easy...

Are we talking about the Harmony 659 here? Either way, I never tried the Harmony. Didn't want to, as soon as I heard that all the configuration was done over the internet I excluded it as an option. I prefer to be able to back up and save my different remote configs using my own means than to let them take care of that.

The windows app that is used to set up the MX-700 remote couldn't be more intuitive.

The Harmony remote sucks for DVR use. All the dvr nav buttons are located on the bottom of the remote.

For a device, only 4 buttons are viewable per page vs 10. Seems like you would run out of real estate fast. Also as your hitting next through the device pages, there is no way of going back. Seems like a small thing but if you end up at 20 pages, this could get annoying quick.

The whole activity approach seemed too hokey for me as well. Seemed like another way of taking the control out of your hands with setup. I didn't like how they had the three main activity button labels predefined for you already. I've heard reviews from users that said they could never get the delays setup just right for the activities, something that is customizable on the 700/800.
