the live tv thing apparently changes its functionality after you've gone to the guide. strange. hit livetv and it brings up the guide. exit the guide, then go into guide and suddenly livetv toggles between the tuners. odd.

i figure the standby mode shuts down part of the tivo system (namely the decoder). also, i used to leave my receiver on all the time and if i didn't turn off the tivo, then i'd still get audio with the tv off.

a few more programming alterations and i think i'll be set. my tv and my av setup aren't actually near each other at the moment, so i hope the sync thing doesn't bite me too hard.

I remember that guide/live tv thing now. TiVo interface is awesome, but sometimes...
I just muted my receiver or had it switch to an unused interface in that same scenario. Turning it off caused delays when turning things back on in the morning, so...

I'm not sure any of these high dollar remotes are worth the troubles.

You had the best, that sony is a piece... the Harmony 880 isn't worth $250, but the 680 and 688 are INSANELY popular... too bad you didn't like yours, but it definitely handles everything, is programmed easily without ever reading a manual, and is easy enough to use that total non-techies walk in and operate my setup while I'm out without problems... Thats $100 well spent for me.

I got the sony 3100 for $100. BB had it priced at $199. I had to use the help on the 880 9/10 times. It would just keep scrolling through the tv inputs. Ive figured out there is no perfect remote. They all have goods and bads. The sony is probably going back also. I dont like the way these remotes make me feel like a retard trying to program them.

exact same programming interface as 680, 688, and 880. Exact same electronics as 680 and 688, just different button layout.

if you can't figure out a Harmony, you should just give up on having a single remote. I have a Pronto, it requires actual programming (not simple web-GUI navigation).

The scrolling input issue, if you had posted about it, is easily solved. You simple have a toggle for your inputs, and need to use the discrete option for input selection instead... For instance, when I select "Watch DVD", it selects the component interface. When I select "Watch TV" it switches to the dvi input. No toggling - I don't cycle through the SVideo and such...

which pronto do you have? After I would press an activity, everything would change correctly then all of a sudden the tv would start scrolling through all the inputs. sometimes a component wouldnt turn on. The channel changing was painfully slow and it was set to as fast it would go. I also noticed the "tumbler" that awoke the remote when it was picked up was getting slower and slower to respond. Sunday, it finally quit working at all. I got a lemon.
