Red Rabbit

  1. About as good as "Sum of All Fears" and about 200 pages too long - not Clancy at his best, still a good read though.

I don't know if it was as good as "Sum", but it wasn't bad. I'd read it over Stephen Koontz. I think it moves a little faster than "Sum" did, but the ending wasn't as climactic.

I've enjoyed all his books, but it stopped being as fun to read after the Cold War stories ended. Maybe that's why he wrote 'Red Rabbit'.

Red October is still my favorite.

    Math...

    I started Red Rabbit.

    *banging head against wall*

I just can't get into it yet. I've already read 2 romance novels since...

Promise me it gets as good as the others.

I'm about 5/6 of the way through it, and so far it's just not your typical Tom Clancy suspense novel. I don't know whether it's because it's a prequel, or because it's just plain not as good.

It hasn't compelled me to leave disregard my family like a good book has been known to do in the past.

Don't give up on it, though.

Oh no. That wasn't what I wanted to hear. If its not good enough to make me disregard my family then its of no use to me. :p

Another Tom Clancy book. Either I'm getting more demanding, or he is writing less interesting stories. I enjoy the books, I burn through them fast (although at times I have to speed-read when he gets overly verbose), but they just don't have twists and turns like they used to. In short, it entertained me on the beach, but that's about all it's good for.

i decided not to bother with this one. should i read it?

i think clancy has run out of ideas with his current set of characters. he still has the ability to tell an interesting story. he needs a new story line.

I would skip it - there's far better stuff out there. For the amount of time it takes to read, it's just not worth it...
