    sigh...

the article attempts to show that it will cost $900 to produce, which will shrink to $320 in 3 years. No way in fuck will Sony sell the ps3 for $900.

oh, by the way, the xbox 360 costs $720 to make, you don't see them selling them for that now do you?

    fixed

But yeah, I'm not paying $400 for a 360 or $900 or $500 or $400 for a PS3 either. At least, not until I don't have to pay for games. $60 games is the hidden killer in these next gen wars, and it appears that cost will be standard for PS3 as well.

actually, the 360 has no real reason to charge what they do for games. The developers claim it is to make up for the higher production costs, even though Madden on the 360 is much worse than madden on the xbox.

Now the ps3 will have bluray disks, which will require developers to pay license fees, much like with the more expensive n64 cartridges...which sold for $70 in some cases.

So $60 games is just a fact of the business now.

yeah, it sounds like sony isn't going to launch until the prices come down a bit so they don't eat it on the machines themselves.

This could make it more likely that Halo 3 could actually launch pretty close to the PS3 launch like Bill Gates has stated.
