#1 - Isn't Lamar Smith under contract for 3 years?

#2 - do you REALLY waste a possible 1st round pick on a back when its still POSSIBLE Foster could return?? I mean its one thing to pick up a 1 or 2 year FA to see Foster's status, but to possibly have 2 starting running backs in the fold is nice, but with all our holes wouldn't it be smarter to draft another position??

#3 - If we went after Stephen Davis how many years would you expect him to play here?? Would he be considered a 1-2 year option or a 4-5 year option?

1- lamar has a 3 yr deal. but, he could be axed due to his age and his off the field discretion. i say axe him.

2- if foster is projected to be ready to go by camp, i say we dont draft an rb. i agree, qb/wr are more pressing at this time.

3- i think we'd sign him to a 3 yr deal, with an optional 4th.

    1) Yes, but I remember when they did his contract, they said it would be a cap-friendly hit if we got rid of him.

    2) No, Smith will be brought back and Brown has shown he can be a back-up and a nice change of pace back. He'll get more carries next year w/ Smith getting less. We'll also have to wait on Foster but don't hold your breath.

    3) Davis is a workhorse back that we could probably get two good years out of, and maybe three.

    1. What do you want to ax him?

    2. Micro-fracture is a bitch to come back from... just ask the numerous former players about it.

    3. Sounds good to me.

he's aging. he's over 30. he looked worn down after about the 8th game of the season. he cant be a number 1 back for us, at best he should be getting about 10-15 carries a game. i'd like to see the cap hit we take if we release him- if its minimal, i say release him and try and go after davis. then, we'll have davis, goings, brown, foster*, hoover. thats plenty.

    Foster is d-o-n-e done.

We need to draft an RB, or sign a good one. We have to. OUr Offense is BASED on the RB. Henning has said that the guy to 'carry the flag' for your offense is the RB. Fox has stressed it.

Workhorse RB's typically only last a few years anyway, Foster didn't make it but about 30 carries.

I'd rather get a stud RB than a stud WR, but there isn't nearly the quality of RB's as WR's.

I could live with giving Stephen Davis a 4 year deal, and cutting Lamar. We have Dee, pair with Davis, and Foster is a wild card.

Microfracture or no, it was just an MCL. That gives me hope.
