A look at Peete's statistics show how he compares to the Panthers starters in previous seasons...

    8. Kerry Collins 1997 381 200 52.5 2,124 5.57 11 21 55.7 6-7

In retrospect, looks like Stevie B got the job done right well. Thought so at the time. We cut him to hire Stinky Winky and Fasani ?? Not much of a deal, hunh ?? At least it got Sea-Fart fired later on !!
    :mushy: ;) :D

Now you have done it coot. Prepare thy self for Sandy's wrath. He'll start foaming in the mouth, barkin and a yellin. Last time he started humpin people's legs. Sherrif said if he started that shit again, we'd gave to put him down.

I dunno what we could have gotten for Steve since he was hurt, even if Seifert had done something early on.

Capers probably should have just benched Collins and seen what the market bore in a trade.

Of course, by that time Capers would have been out the door anyway.

Seifert and Collins together? Hmmm. That doesn't sound right. Don't think George would have the patience with him, but it might have kept him from bringing in Lewis.

yeah, even with the numbers Beuerlein put up, we still didn't make any playoffs...it's not all about the quarterback in this new offensive system. Apparently anyone (Gannon) can put up God-like numbers when you throw the ball 60%+ of the time. The difference is the Raiders and 49ers have a semblance of a running game. I personally prefer a stingy defense along with a ball control offense even though throwing the ball 50 times a game seems to be en vogue right now across the league.

Basically, certain systems are conducive to great QB stats, other systems are not...it's completely irrelevant to compare Beuerlein's '99 numbers with Peete's '02 numbers. Would make more sense to compare the '99 stats with Seifert's QB's numbers in SF. Peete was basically in a system he's played in before and put up career numbers, can't ask for much more than that, although the several games with multiple turnovers probably hurt us more than anything.

I'm not going to debate how good Steve B. was. But I will say that at least some of his success was due to Gil Haskell's offense.

Beuerlein has the better accuracy numbers which leads me to believe he would do better in Henning's offense than Peete, Collins, Weinke ever did or in Collins case might have done.

Did we figure in the number of fumbles and times sacked?

Well that's jumping into a whole other issue because if you remember Beurelein's Oline sucked ass. 69 sacks or something crazy like that. And I refuse to believe that Beurelein was responsible for all 69 of those sacks.

And I suppose we had a great line this year?
