Has he ever been on a consistent winner? I don't recall the O's or Rangers ever really whipping ass. He has but up some stupid numbers. He's a first ballot.

Ralfy is Mr. Consistency. Good power numbers, hit for power and average, decent defensive first baseman.
Started out with ths Cubs. Played against him a lot in the minors and a few times in the majors. Good people.

Really good player. Just don't think of him as a hall of famer.

I didn't either, but it would be hard to turn out 500 HR and 3,000 hits. Has he said anything about when he might retire? I'm thinking he might make it to 600 homers before he's done.

colin cowherd was talking about this on his radio show yesterday. he even had steve garvey on, who btw has not been elected to the hof along with former red sox slugger jim rice. its a popularity contest with the writers if you ask me. if you let plameiro in, how can you deny players like rice and garvey?

That's a question that I think I would have asked before. I equated Palmeiro along the lines of a Jim Rice or Steve Garvey, but if you compare the statistics, Palmeiro has 600 more hits and could wind up with 200 more home runs than Rice and 500 more hits and almost 300 more home runs than Garvey.

I think if you turn him out, even though he isn't considered to be that great, you're going to have to turn down a lot of guys that probably be thought of as Hall of Famers.
