Thanks for reminding me what I love and hate at those types of shows. It reminds me of the discussion I had with a friend in England about how cool it must be to go to those enormous summer festivals, and it's pretty much the same bullshit. Can't get anywhere near the stage, hot, obnoxious fans that only know the hit song and are there to be seen/pickup girls, $26871 beer, no potties, etc. I just want to see some of those bands so bad (and they'll never play within 500 miles of here), that I guess I forget about the actual experience.

If you wanna know one reason why snob fans are all about being fans before a band gets huge, here's one really legitimate reason why. You get all the electricity out of a crowd of about 500-750, and a helluva lot less of the annoyance. Usually cheaper and friendlier too. Small venues for the m-f'n win.

I was in seats, too but way far away. Those big screens would have been very appreciated. I was pretty hammered, but was glad they played Everything in it's Right Place, There There, and I almost shit my pants when they played Planet Telex. By far the best part of the night. Paranoid Android was great, too. Reckoner was the best of the new stuff along with Weird Fishes/Arpeggi. Some of the crowd was annoying, but the moonshine I drank before the show helped me focus on the music. I hated all the slow songs, but I knew that's how it'd be. I'm thankful I got to see them.

They're playing an hour long live In Rainbows show from some studio on channel 284 pretty much a couple of times a day. It's really good.

I wonder if it was from their webcast on New Years Eve, that was really solid.

I have it on my DVR. Havent had a chance to watch it. My kid freaks out at some of the sounds they make.

I have never seen them play planet telex live. I must rectify this, soon.

I bought The Bends on release day and took it with me to work to listen to... wasn't quite prepared to have my mind blown at work.

I'm sure there are plenty of bands out there putting out good stuff (and since you're such a big radiohead fan I'd love to hear some more of your recommendations) but radiohead is just a personal favorite, and at my age I doubt I'll be adding a ton more. Seeing them was amazing however I can't help but think how much more I would have enjoyed seeing them right after OK Computer came out.

You're absolutely right about the seats, I wish I had better seats as well. However, I bought them on WASTE like 10 min after a surprise launch, and I was on the site at the most 3 min after they went on sale. The site was hammered and I felt lucky to get seats at all, but in retrospect I might have been better off with TicketMaster. I don't know.

I do know I saw Patrick Stewart in MacBeth this weekend on Broadway ten rows back and it was mindblowing. I definitely think it's worth the extra scratch to sit up close if you can afford it and it's one of your favorite bands. If Radiohead ever come back I'll make more of an effort to get closer.
