    I play B7 to avoid playing a barred B, if it sounds right. Usually, any song I play is supposed to have a B7. I'm not a career guitarist, after all.:)

    Nothing wrong with B7. However, it sounds like you're limiting your base of operations as far as playing music, per se.
    B7 is not related to all keys, yet it can appear in any key...even in(gasp)Bb major. You don't have to be a "career" guitarist to broaden your horizons, so to speak, if you have time, of course. I've known doctors and lawyers, etc. that could play their asses off. It's just a matter of approach and discipline.
