My girlfriend has quite a bit of money in her retirement fund, and it's going on 10 years. She says she needs to withdraw it. The job she is at now doesn't have a 401k, so she doesn't want to lose any money. Do any of you have any advice on what she could do with it, or any ideas on how she can do this without losing money, and possibly put it somewhere that will help her earn more dividends?

    Thanks.

She'll take an ugly tax hit if she just takes it out. She'll need to roll over into a Traditional IRA in order to not take the hit. Some others may have other ideas.

That's a huge question full of unknowns. I'd have her get all of her information ready, then call vanguard and ask what her options are.

Vanguard, i believe, if you agree to a minimum additional monthly contribution. Check them out.

Vanguard is old, cheap, and has killer returns. Can't possibly go wrong with them. They are THE mutual fund company.

By the way...she needs to roll that shit into an IRA. She should probably call Vanguard.
