looks kinda pointless. do they really think deathmatch mayhem is the way to sell a game?

    Um....FUCK YES!

See: HALO, HALO2, Unreal Tournament, Half-Life, Serious Sam, etc etc etc.

    exactly.

why buy quake 4 when you've got unreal tourney 2004? halo, halo2, half-life -- those are all story driven. plus they can do the death match thing as well. and really, how many mindless fps games does one person really need to own? unreal is nice because it has great gameplay options to offset the lack of story.

i'm not saying the game will suck, but with the shear number of fps games out there, they need to highlight the story mode more. that footage looks like quake 3 -- the graphics improvements (assuming there are some) don't translate with low res movie files.

i want more people to make multiplayer cooperative games. have a campaign and allow multiple people to participate in it. running around shooting people gets old real fast. for me anyways.

    I feel you.

But Im a sucker for running around in mass carnage situations and blowing everything up with the biggest fucking gun I can find.

yeah, rocket arena was fun for about 10 minutes. i just find that sort of carnage unappealing. give me something more tactical. something where dying meant more than having to waste time trying to re-equip the biggest guns in the arena.

the rainbow six or rogue spear games were pretty good on the xbox. gotta try em on the pc.

hope you guys have AT LEAST an x800 card or higher to get any kind of high quality play on this one.

Ive got 1.5 Gb of memory, 2.0 GHz proc, and a Radeon 9600, and have all of the settings on lowest possible and in high intesity situations, it is still jumpy.

Hey Nut, this one is definitely worth a look.

If you're into story games, the single-player campaign on this one whips ass. You're infiltrating the Strogg bases and bunkers with a team of guys that you often have to escort and guard while tech's are taking down defenses or triggering self-destruct mechanisms.

Then, in the middle of it all, you get captured by the Strogg, and you're sent through a processing facility and morphed into some kind of cyborg. Just as your new "mind control" is about to be activated, marines bust in and blow you out of the encasement. This is after you've had a first person view of the entire morph'ing process, such as your legs getting sawed off and bionic replacements attached, etc etc etc. (i.e. gory as hell)

The end result comes out looking something like RoboCop.

Anyway, up to that point you've seen all these consoles and control panels in a weird sanskrit type writing. Now, you can read them. And you get health from panels similiar to the way you do in Half-Life.

Im not sure how far through the game I am, but I hope not far. The story is really good.

maybe i'll check it out. i find i don't play games by myself so much these days -- i'm way more into multiplayer (co-op in particular). i doubt i would have done halo/halo 2 if it hadn't been for the co-op mode.
