Couch or Holcombe..I'll take either one of them.

    Haven't forgotten.

We'll see how Holcombe does. I think Cleveland can take Pitt, and would with either. Hell, playing on the road helps them, particuarly Couch.

And since we in Carolina take a bit more relaxed approach at home, maybe Couch would think home games in Charlotte were really road games and play well.

    Are either one available?

    EDIT:

Both under contract through 2004 (holcombe) 2005 (couch).

    EDIT. Thanks meat.

If Kelley does well, Couch could be cut. Couch could demand a release because of the bad publicity with the fans and all.

He's a decent QB, still growing, who is a little streaky. He seems to play better when the expectations are lowered, when he is expected to play poorly. Carolina may be a little less of a pressure cooker.

Alot of qb's, or at least 'several' seem to do well after they've been around a bit.

Collins, Gannon, Johnson, Garcia, Maddox, are all from this 'seed' and would all be a big improvement in Carolina.

It's what I expect from this front office. I expect a mid-level free agent with Peete as insurance. Maybe 2 of them.

Kinda makes me wish Couch had a drinking problem and was surly to teammates. He can be better than Griese IMO.

Get one of those guys. A guy like Griese or Stewart that has shown promise, but a bit inconsistent. And then let him mature.

It's likely our plan. Don't break the bank, just make a wise choice. Then break their fuckin nose on defense and on the ground.

Taking QB out of draft need basically forces it to be a WR, unless we get terribly stupid and draft a tackle with 9 or 44 (?) or reach for a back or Witten

Johnson wouldn't be a reach at #9. It's not like he's been injured and his career numbers are pretty good considering he was only a feature back this year. In fact, I like that he's only had one full year as the guy. He posted outrageous numbers and has low miles.
Still, I'd weigh WR as a bigger need if the guy there has worthy value. We need to get Smith to #3. Otherwise, I'd go with LJ if our QB isn't there.

    Mags,

Depending on who we get with 9, I would not be shocked with a Tackle at 44. Not at all.
