I dunno who is UFA and who is RFA, and some guys I left off.

    But here:

    *indicates starter

    Tony Banks
    Charlie Batch
    Jeff Blake*
    Marc Bulger*
    Todd Collins
    Jake Delhomme
    Koy Detmer*
    Todd husak
    Doug Johnson
    Rob Johnson
    Shaun King
    Jake Plummer*
    Chris Redman (this surprised me)
    Anthony Wright

    My 'considerations' on this list:
    Batch
    Blake (old)
    Bulger
Detmer to keep an eye on
    Shaun King
    Jake Plummer
    Redman

I don't want to give ANY of these guys a big bonus.

We have a QB problem. It will be tough to get some of these guys, most likely won't be FA, those that do ain't great.

Hmm. I hope we lose the rest of our games so we can grab Leftwich.

Blake would be good for this offense. He's not efficient and he's been in two bad situations for him - one where he couldn't win a job and then in Baltimore where he's trying to run a hybrid O in which neither side of the hybrid fits him.

He's not great, but he's a start. Delhomme would be worth a look as a #2 if we went that way.

Scratch Blake (=Peete) Batch, Redman, MAYBE Detmer. I could live with the others.

Redman will probably be kept, Husak isn't a long term solution in Minnesota. Wright isn't a huge commodity.

    That list is depressing.

Bulger is a RFA, and the Rams will likely give him first round tender to protect him. They might try and deal him then.

I'll take one of these three

    >>Rob Johnson
    >>Shaun King
    >>Jake Plummer*

For limited money. None of those guys would keep me from spending a first rounder on a QB I liked, and I'd have to take somebody in the first three rounds. Banks, Dorseyl, Klingsberry, Boller, somebody.

Yeah, the big deal with 'limited money', to me, is the signing bonus.

I don't mind paying one of them $1-2 million per year, but I don't want to hand out a $5 million bonus to ANY of them. That seems like a fucking disaster, but it seems like Plummer would command that.

That said, I don't see Hurney doing it. We've had remarkable success with Peete, considering how poor the rest of our Offensive talent is. Henning, who I've been upset with but whom I think inherited a low talent offense, has talked alot about the difficulty of finding a 'franchise' caliber qb. That said, I don't really see them picking a top 10 QB in the draft.

We're a running team, with or without Henning. I see us trying to sign a Peete clone, or a younger Peete clone, and grabbing offensive skill positions, and maybe even Offensive Linemen in the draft. That O-line has been shuffled quite a bit.

Run the ball, stop the run. That's how this team will be built.

    Blake really fits the mold.

    I'd do Jake this deal.

Split bonus. 1 million, then 5. You get a million in salary first year.

6 years. 32 million. That's starter money. But he has to play like a starter in 2003.

Someone like Blake or Plummer doesn't fit this offense or Fox's philosophy.
We'll be looking for a game manager. King is the best option IMO, he's efficient, has game experience, and he's young...that's the biggest plus.

We need to figure out a way to get Bulger.
