QB Martin to leave Florida

    Martin to visit Furman

    GAINESVILLE, Fla. — Florida Gators quarterback Ingle Martin has asked to be released from his scholarship so he can transfer to another school.
    The quarterback's father, Harry, said Martin would visit five Division I-AA schools: Furman, Richmond, Pennsylvania, Yale and Samford.

    Florida coach Ron Zook said Monday that Martin, who started the first four games of the season before losing his job to Chris Leak, wants to leave the program.

    Martin will leave the team before its bowl game.

    "I need the time to figure out what I'm going to do," Martin told Florida Today. "I felt like that there was no other choice. I didn't feel like I was done yet. I wanted to play and I feel like I can play."

    that's stupid... at least go through the Bowl game... I have no problem with him transfering... Leak is a special talent and earned the starting spot... I have a feeling he'll be in the NFL one day

    This isn't discrediting Martin... he could probably start at a number of schools, but he should have finished up the season... I mean hell he has what... 2 months? And most of that will be preparing for their Bowl game. I just find it selfish for him to create this possible distraction at this point in the season

    He was done after the UT game, and should have quit then. To play the way he played, and then to basically say, "yeah, I like the other teams fight song, its where I'm from" is stupid.
