Anybody here ever pulled a chest muscle?

I have to say that it is one royal pain in the chest.

I don't even know how I did it but it has been hurting like hell for a week. Started out as back pain right below my shoulder blade - then moved to my chest for most of the week. Hurts more when I'm sitting than standing and will hurt at odd times, not when I'm stretching or lifting but just simple movements. I am overdosing on advil just to make it tolerable.

Tonight it is back in the back again. Going to sleep on the heat but I guarantee it will be back in my chest again tomorrow.

The little I read on the internet it sounds like it can take awhile to heal because its easy to strain or pull it again. I'm sure if I go to the doctor they will spend all my money running EKG and stress tests , etc since it is a "chest" pain, but I know its muscle related.

anyway - just wanted to rant about it since I don't really have anything else to complain about

Be careful Wossa. Please - get this checked out. It might just be a pulled muscle, but this sounds nasty and sinister. I know I sound like Mother Hen on acid, but this just doesn't sound good.

a pulled intercostal muscle can be a bitch. They wrap in and out of the ribs. The only thing that helps is anti-inflammatories like Ibuprofen. Are you SURE it's not cardiac?

Honeygirl - a mother hen on acid - :1peekdoor Is that smiley plu posted what you look like?

I am most positive it's not cardiac related. No other symptoms like shotness of breath - the pain in my back last night was definitely muscle related - and when it's in my chest it feels better just putting pressure on it.

The heat seemed to help last night but since I have a couple hours of driving today I imagine it will settle back in after sitting for awhile.

wossa, I'm not saying it's not a strained/pulled muscle but I didn't have the classic heart symptoms either. Remember that Russian pairs skater, Sergei Grinkov, who died of a heart attack? The only thing he complained of was back pains, never any chest pains. I never had any chest pains until after the heart attack in the hospital, however I had high back pains for several days before, including earlier the morning of the heart attck.

Heart problems CAN happen to those your age (and younger), I thought I was invincible and it put me in my place quickly. Don't be macho and think it's nothing, it might be minor but you owe it to everyone to have it checked out.

That sucks. All that torso/chest type stuff hurts a lot and is restrictive and seems to take lots of time to heal. Next time pass on the caber toss.
