prove the braves have choked 11 outta the last 12 years thread

i don't think they choked 11 out of the last 12 years. they were not close to the best team in most of those years. but in 1996, they took the big dick to the throat. up two games to one and leading game four 6-0. they give up 3 runs in runs in the 6th and 3 more in the 8th to blow the lead. they never recovered.

i also thought they were better than the Marlins (and also Cleveland) in 1997. they ran into some great pitching and terrible umpires (Eric Gregg's strike zone was as big as his ass). they ran into a buzz saw with the Padres, but had they won, would have gotten smoked by the Yankees.

i just wish all these who love to scream "choke" all the time really knew what they were talking about. if they would take the time to refresh their memories, they would see that its not like that at all. they don't wanna do that i suppose.

yes, there have been years in there where they have indeed choked. but to say 11 outta 12, thats just ludicrous.

hey lawing, any word on when durham is hanging it up? we're puttin together another adult league expansion team for next season, and as manager, i'd love to pencil him in at second. :xyzthumbs

 

geze, i can't remember each and every detail of the last 11 years of the reason why a team wins the division but can't win the World Series. 11 years? You're asking me to remember baseball from when I was 11 years old. I can't do that. IMO, I think the choke lies in my first sentence, only 1 world series in 12 years? What else would you call that? Just bad luck? Bad luck is the Cubs or the Sox. Sorry.

yep, do the research. the braves have only actually choked a couple times throughout that stretch. if you weren't so fuckin lazy, or ignorant to research first, you would know that.

 

Why is the burden of proof on others to prove that the Braves did in fact choke? The fact that with all the talent the Braves have had in the past 12 years, Hall of Famers caliber players like Glavine, Maddox, Sheffield, Smoltz, and to a lesser degree, Lopez, Giles, Chipper and Andruw they have come up short. Prove to others why with that talent, arguably one of baseballs best pitching coaches in Mazonne why they havn't won more championships. Divisional championships are nothing without a ring.
