:lmao:I really hope you're just screwing with me at this point, because if not, you're absolutely humiliating yourself.

    Once more:
#1) Mark Richt, Thomas Davis' college coach, says that Davis is like Derrick Brooks.

#2) John Fox also says that Thomas Davis is like Derrick Brooks.

#3) Magnus says that both are wrong, that "he's not that Brooks-type player"

Yeah, I know. People should be shot for not abandoning their position 100% just because you don't like it :thud: That makes you look rational as hell.

See the edit above. Me not agreeing with your twist of the compliment doesn't mean I think both Fox and Richt are wrong. That's a nice trick, but still a trick.

Basic, easy-to-read words - I disagree with your interpretation of their compliments as limiting negatives. I don't disagree with the idea that they think he's a playmaker, but if exaggerating makes you feel better, go with it. I'd hate for you to have a fucking aneurism over me not relenting to you. :satana:

    The only tricks are yours.

John Fox said, "He could be a Derrick Brooks type linebacker or a Roy Williams type of safety."

Mark Richt also compared Davis to All-Pro NFL linebacker Derrick Brooks, who was at FSU when he coached there.

Magnus said, "And yet he's not that Brooks-type player. Johnson, of the two, is the Derrick Brooks"

How much more clear can it be? Mark Richt and John Fox say Thomas Davis is like Derrick Brooks, Magnus says that they're wrong. He wants to change the subject and again go back to whether or not Thomas Davis can play SLB because he knows THERE IS NO DEFENSE FOR THE RIDICULOUSNESS OF SAYING THAT MAGNUS KNOWS THOMAS DAVIS BETTER THAN JOHN FOX AND MARK RICHT DO. Seriously Magnus, just leave for a while. Every post you make about this without you admitting that you were wrong to disagree with Fox and Richt makes you look that much more silly.

Why is it so hard for you to say: "I was wrong when I said that Thomas Davis is not a Brooks-type player"?

Read this thread and see how easily I breeze through the mistakes that I make, because everyone makes them. It's not the fact that you were wrong about Davis not being like Brooks that makes you look idiotic, it's the fact that you continue refusing to correct yourself. That's the the part that's infuriating for me and humiliating for you.

When you say something ridiculous like "The whole size thing doesn't have much to stand on," I'm going to show how absurd and wrong that is.
It's called opinion. We can look at the stats, but you can't determine how a player will have a successful career when that player hasn't played a down of NFL football. Lets see where he can play before we lock him into one spot. In my opinion, Davis has the toughness to play on the strongside if they want him to.

You went through the trouble to pull something up that was days old and raise a fuss about it. I posted that before Fox said that he would stay, at least for the time being, at safety and play as the joker LB. The picture is somewhat clearer now as to what they want to do. At the time, there was more uncertainty. But still you felt obliged to start it back up and force me to explain the semantics of my opinion. Why you did this, I dunno. It's seems kinda strange in any event.

Dude, my dismissiveness is not stopping you from doing anything. Hell, if you had any ability to deny my reasoning you would have done that too.

Dude, I didn't want to do anything. But when you tore into me about getting my facts wrong, I had to find sources to prove they were right. Then you said something like, "don't you know who I am?" before complaining about more details. But I did take the time to make sure those facts were right and, as it happens so often at TBR, we got off the subject.

If you had any ability to explain your reasoning you would have done so by now.

I thought my reasoning was clear from the start: Lets not pidgonhole Davis because of his size. You dug it up and turned it into a game of details, while completly trashing my opinion.

Hell, if you had any ability to deny my reasoning you would have done that too.

That's not my goal. Your reasoning is as valid as anyone else's. It would be nice to express mine without having it pissed on for no reason.

I think the whole "one in four billion" thing pretty much shut you down for all eternity. But like the Black Knight in Holy Grail, you're trying to bleed on me.

No, not really. Washington and Tampa, two of the top five defenses, had no considerable difference in size between their weakside or strongside. If you want to examine strength, we can do so. You've established that Davis lacks ideal upper body strength, but somewhat neglected the fact that he's a phenominal tackler. He seems physical enough to play SLB.......IMHFO.

No, it's called stupidity. It's absolutely undeniable from the numbers that there is a consistent, significant difference in weight between weakside and strongside players. The numbers are absolutely undeniable, so you denying them makes you look stupid.

If you had said that you understand that the numbers clearly show that strongside linebackers are almost always significantly heavier than weakside linebackers and then gave an argument as to why Thomas Davis could overcome it, that would at least be respectable. Instead you said "The whole size thing doesn't have much to stand on," which is pretty stupid.

Because #1) you were disagreeing with me, which is a challenge to the validity of my statement. #2) What you said was stupid, and I'm offended by stupidity. And as for why I "brought it back up," I didn't visit the board during the intervening period between my posts. I responded to it the moment I saw it.

Except that you didn't, aside from Al Singleton. (edit: And then the Dan Morgan thing later on)

That's not an argument for starting Davis at SLB. "I don't want to answer" is not an answer. You haven't made an argument for Davis at SLB because you are completely incapable of making one, but you wanted to make it seem as if my rudeness was keeping you from doing so. Sure, you would have been able to make the argument if I hadn't been rude to you, because rudeness would understandably keep you from making points.

All opinions are not equal. If they were, no one would pay for analysis when they could just ask the next random person they meet. Your position was pissed on because it was stupid. There is a size difference between weakside and strongside linebackers even though it is indeed possible for a strongside linebacker to be lighter than someone on the weakside. It's very rare, but it can happen. What isn't deniable is what you chose to deny, that there is a demonstrable size difference.

We've already discussed how the Dungee/Kiffin scheme is unique in its use of radically small front seven players. As for Washington, they're close only because LaVar Arrington is so freakishly large for someone with his quickness and playmaking ability. Which, if you'll care to notice, once more confirms the fact that teams use their playmakers at weakside linebacker (though I realize that's a separate argument from ours).

It's broken down into really, really longwinded ways of saying "you disagree so you're stupid." :satana:

No, dude. Legitimate disagreement is fine. We've done it before and we'll do it again.

Saying John Fox and Mark Richt are wrong about Thomas Davis being like Derrick Brooks is stupid.

Saying that teams put their playmakers at strongside linebacker is stupid.

Saying that size doesn't matter between outside linebacking positions is stupid.

Saying that a compliment by Fox/Richt about Davis = they're saying he's limited in a number of ways and can only play WLB = stupid.
Leading with nothing but "everyone thinks Davis is only a WLB" and then not backing it, but instead twisting compliments to suit you = stupid. Deciding after the fact that "everyone" suddenly equals "only a few media outlets that happen to agree" is probably stupid.
Arguing over useless semantic is probably in there, too.
Blowing a fucking coronary because I don't agree, definitely = stupid.
The rest is opinion. Opinion does not equal stupid.
And I never said "teams put their playmakers at strongside linebacker". I said that Davis' playmaking wouldn't be negated at SLB. The least you could do is keep up with what I'm saying before you call me stupid for not agreeing with you.
