Does anybody use a system like this?

Having issues with a wireless connection of one PC to the network and have tried several different things, so looking for options other than running cables from point A to point B.

I've had powerline for years, a kit from Netgear, never had an issue. I have a powerline adapter at the router upstairs where the cable modem is, then one adapter for the slingbox and a 3rd for my downstairs wireless router for extending the range and providing hard links to the xbox and ps3. I'd recommend it no sweat.
