Given this franchise might be too young to begin this debate BUT . . . Aside from short-time acquisitions (like Reggie White) who have established themselves for consideration elsewhere what Panther(s) has a chance . . . . For Instance, how much more would Steve Smith need to get into the hall?

To have better numbers than Jerry Rice. The HOV takes very few receivers, and there's plenty of great ones in line before SS that retired years ago.

We have had none so far, imo, and we have none right now on our team that are likely candidates.

That’s what I was thinking .. . We either have guys who were late bloomers and didn’t have a strong enough early career, one (or two) year wonders, or guys who have come here late in their careers that were established elsewhere. Thought Smitty might have the best shot eventually. However he would also have to get a ring at some point being that location seems to be so important. Just heard the talk of Jimmy Smith probably not getting in (ESPN) despite his great numbers. Was also considering Peppers but if he continues to draw so much extra attention he won't accumulate enough numbers

    Criteria #1 for HOF Consideration:

    1. Don't be named Art Monk.

For real, i cant believe he hasnt got in yet. I mean surely the likes of Marino and Young could wait a year so we can get some guys like him in before they die.

But SB Rings seems to have alot to play in it.

Smitty would have to do what he did last year for 8 more years id imagine.
If he could dominate like he did last year for that long he'd be worthy, ring or no ring.

I think Peppers has a really good chance if he stays healthy. I think if he continues his 10 sack a season pace for another 10 years he'd be worthy.
He won ROY when he entered the league and has added a few Pro Bowls since.

But nothing helps the cause like a SB ring.

I bang one whenever I can lure one away from her caregivers, and keep from getting caught . . . that’s the trickiest part . . . not getting caught. :satana:

It depends on what this team does in the next five years. We have the talent to contend for a championship right now and in the near future. If we win a couple of superbowls then lots of guys get a big boost on the HOF list.

Steve Smith had a good year in 2003, but he was unstoppable this past year. I'd have to agree on Peppers being the best chance though.
