    Lust
    1 obsolete a : PLEASURE, DELIGHT b : personal inclination : WISH
2 : usually intense or unbridled sexual desire : LASCIVIOUSNESS
    3 a : an intense longing : CRAVING b : ENTHUSIASM, EAGERNESS

lust is not just sexual....it can refer to any longing desire you may have.

The emotional, physical, and spiritual toll porn takes on the participants is nothing short of tragic. Doing porn cheapens both sex and the participants bodies to a state of being almost worthless in comparison to what they were before.

Lemme clear something up here. The Bible does not de-value sex or a woman's body, as many people believe. The reason for dressing modestly is NOT shame. It's value. Our bodies are viewed as precious in the Bible, not something to be cheapened and sold. They are precious gifts to be given to our spouses only. Why? Because only someone who has pleged his or her life to you is worthy to receive such a gift.

According to Barna polls, well over half of Christian men alone struggle with porn addictions. And those were just the ones who were willing to admit it. I went to a PK Conference in '97 and more than 10,000 men took a knee in repentance on the first night because of porn addiction. I was one of them.

I would warn those couples that they're trading the spiritual and emotional aspects of sex for physical pleasure, and that's a very bad trade off.

Just because it's happened in the past doesn't mean it has to happen. That's one of the foundational principles and core values of Christianity. One of the benefits of being a Christian is receiving the ability to take control of our thoughts. Jesus both set the standard by not giving into temptation and gives us the ability to live up to that standard if we choose to do so through the Holy Spirit.

Interesting that the first word in the listing is "obsolete".

In a universal and modern respect, I'll concede that lust could be applied more widely than just sexual desire. But within the context of that verse, it is referring to sex.

We had a 4 week topic on Lustville at my church. It was pretty good, although it made me feel guilty as hell. It covered sex, material wealth, other's personal gains, ect....basically it covered lust, envy and coveting.

Good series. Covers 3 of the big 4 in America today. You could give those sermons in any church in this country on any given Sunday and convict 90% of the congregation.
