If it's working I don't see the need for drastic upgrades. If we have a group that shows continued improvement that is exactly what we want. I'm not going to make a decsion that we need this and we need that at this point becuase we don't know what the exact verdict will be at the end of the season.

I'll just say this. If we draft a linemen first I will be unhappy.

i think we can upgrade without having to invest a first, but we do need some upgrades.

I'm not saying blow a first on a lineman, but damn, there has GOT to be a FA guard that will upgrade Reyes/Nelson/Brez for about the same money that Brez is getting...

I'm just saying just because we don't take many sacks, and suddenly had a couple 100 yard games doesn't mean we are set at o-line.

I'd have to reserve judgement. If we have a very late pick, not so much, and not so much if it's a great player.

It's too early to specualte on that. We don;t know who's out there, and we don't know where we'll be on the clock.

Consensus I guess is that you don't grab RT's in Round one, but if a guy like Gross is there at our spot, Id do it. Of course that's cracksmoker talk, but I would. Bookend dominant tackles? Mitchell in the center? That's alot to work with.

I'd also snag a LeCharles Bentley, or similar dominant interior lineman in the top two - and apparently our front office will, considering they whiffed mightily on Nelson. But they showed they'll hit for guard in top rounds.

The later we pick, then the less selective we will have to be as far as focusing on position. I'd be less against getting a tackle, or a DT, if it meant reaching.

We are a long ways away from that.

We've been pretty good on the first day since 2001. Dan Morgan may be the least impactful of all our first day picks since then, and he's at least been good when healthy. I'd say we are damn fortunate.

Edit. Well, Nelson was a brain fart. Seidman just looks like a blocker now. But Morgan, Jenkins, Smith, Gross, Manning, Gamble, Colbert, Wharton...8 out of 10 ain't bad.

We suck, however, on the second day. Our best second day player, ever, Kris Mangum.

RT should be a free agent. Backup guard or tackle isn't a first day need, because when you have depth, you develop it. So it doesn't have to be perfect right off.

Well, production maybe. But not a guy who should be starting. I think that Moorehead's more talented.

Seems like the approach we used this past year and you disagreed with.

No it wasn't. I don't know if you just plan on being belligerent for boredom's sake, but settle down. I love how you're getting over semantics.
A decent free agent, not a cripple, means not using a first and still getting better. We're not going to plug in a player who's not top 50 at right tackle.
