I’m guessing we won’t have the 2020 NFL season with or without fans. I don’t see wealthy athletes risking their health when they’re still getting paid. Hopefully, I’m wrong.

How many professional athletes have made it a point to suggest starting the 2020 season?

They barely seem willing to strike so my guess is they'll demand something once the bank accounts hit red

How does the game check thing work as opposed to salaries?

    Hurney/JR really had a type.

Base salary is divided over each game week no playing no checks. Bonuses become guaranteed at different points usually based on league year IE roster bonus on third day of league year. Sometimes roster bonuses are week to week to keep the player active and motivated or protect the team from injury.

Keep in mind that just because a bonus is triggered does not mean it shows up in the next check- teams don't always have the cash so they're guaranteeing the payment eventually. This happened when the panthers were still making payments on Keyshawn's signing bonus to have him watch Jarrett not replace him.

So if they don't play, they don't get paid their base salary, huh?

    did you mis this part?

From the boston globe:Article 6 of every player’s contract states that players get paid 100 percent of their base salary “over the course of the applicable regular season, commencing with the first regular-season game played by Club in such season."

    No playing no checks

We’ll see what the owners work out with the Players Association.
