I agree the asthetic is awesome, however I'd never choose a tv just because it's as thin as paper or whatever. Not if it comes at the expense of the picture. Looks like this tv has the best of both worlds, though.

 

Well the whole time you and I were arguing, I couldn't figure out why you missed that I said that Pioneer (and specifically that line) is the best picture around. There's no doubt about it. It just costs too damn much.

Crushing the blacks too far actually hurts picture quality. You lose fine detail in the lower ranges of dark grays and shadows. Superblack may knock your socks off as far as contrast, but it comes at a high price in detail. This is coming from a guy that loves to ramp down black levels in projects for effect.

 

Picky Picky Picky.

 

I know, the point is I don't think this tv is using the same effects as others, it's more an evolution of the tech. But wtf do I know.


edit: Much like Pioneer would never make a tv that thin just so it would be the thinnest in the world, they wouldn't do that to the black level if it didn't make the whole picture better.

 

7.5, 7.6.....whatever it takes.
