How about them Pittsburgh Pirates??? They've won 3 in a row and 4 of 7 on the road, matching the amount of wins on the road they had previously in the season!! They have a winning record at home, and Freddy Sanchez is in the top 5 in the NL in Batting Average. Watch out for them in years to come, they have a solid foundation. :ylsuper:

A foundation that will end up playing for teams that spend money.

They made a huge mistake last winter by letting Jim Leyland slip away to Detroit. Jim Tracy has me shaking my head a lot.

:agreed: I agree that they have solid young players in Bay, Castillo, Sanchez, and J. Wilson. Personally, I like Ronny Paulino's work behind the plate.

Who knew about Paulino before this year?? Cota is now an afterthought. What Leyland is doing in Detroit this year is amazing. He has a lot of former Pirates on the Coaching staff, Van Slyke to name one.

A valid point, but there is speculation that Mark Cuban(A Pittsburgh area native) might be interested in purchasing the Pirates. If that happens, watch out. He will spend money to win and give his players all the incentive necessary to propel them to the next level. Look what he's done with the Mavericks.

And that joke of a baseball town still won't sell out the NLCS, same as 90-92.

Pittsburgh's lost just about every game since this thread was started.
Getting swept by KC hurt the most.

What a pathetic bunch of losers...

It's the All Star Break now and Pittsburgh has the worst record in the MLB at 30-60 with the ALL STAR GAME on their dirt and grass.

I don't think the Pirates even have someone in the Home Run Derby if I heard right...

...but after Jason Bay's 0 homers last year in the Derby, it is probably a good thing.
