Sorry Mikeniner for bein a jerk, and being ignorant about the certain topic I was talking about to an extent. I guess the Pirates were good in the 80's and 90's with Barry partly because they had Barry and a good pitching staff, but because of Leyland. What were the Pirates like in the 80's before leyland?

Different outlets using different methods to calculate length (since few balls actually clear the stadium and land on flat ground). According to Stats Inc, which is generally considered to be the most accepted source of baseball statistics, Barry Bonds had not hit a 450+ foot home run prior to 1999. I've read another source saying that he had three before 1999, but in either case, he experienced an enormous jump from pre to post-'99. Stats Inc has him down for 21 home runs of 450 or further from 2000 to 2004, while the other source I read had him down for 30.

According to "Stats Inc", the Yanks could tank. Fact of the matter is that Bonds was a lock for the hall without roids. 3 time MVP and 3 40 homerun seasons before '99.And sockit, he may not even be a .300 lifetime hitter, but I think .298 is close enough.

That's not the point. We're not debating about whether or not he deserves to be in the Hall of Fame.

So, this post means all tape measure shots are bullshit? Thank you. I never believed the Mickey Mantle 565 foot shot anyway.

No, not bullshit, they just aren't exact. Different sources employ different methods to calculate the distance.
