not to give all the credit to Pippen but there were only a few players (non big men ) that could have played alongside Jordan and lived up to his expectations. they were so similar in the fact that they were super athletic, streaky shooters, great defensive players that they were a great duo. I doubt Grant Hill, or Reggie Miller, ect would have produced the same results.

Grant Hill never stayed healthy long enough to live up to his potential but if he had I think he could have done what Pippen did. Miller is a perimeter player and does not contribute much on defense I am not sure a team with Jordan and Miller along with role players would have gotten it done.

Really all Jordan needed was a team that could play defense. If you hold the other team down Jordan will win it at the end cause he could score at will when he wanted to and had enough energy to do it.

Let's not forget that he never complained about being in Jordan's shadow. He could have been THE guy on a lot of other teams around the league, but he hung around at Chicago and was always second fiddle.

I am not sure he could be THE guy. He did not do it when Jordan retired the first time or when he left the Bulls to go to Houston or Portland.

thats basicaly what Im trying to say. Pip was the perfect player to play with Jordan, and it was mostly because of his D. If he was just another good player to play with Jordan, they got the best one for the job and it just happened to get them 6 rings.

You could have stuck a number of guys in Pippen's spot and still won those six rings. He did do a good job filling that role though.
