He was a good player in his prime. He was never a guy who could win a championship on his own but he was a great number 2 guy.

He did take the bulls to the Championship (and almost won) without Jordan. He is one of the best basketball players of all time, and certainly one of the best team players the game has ever seen.

MJ made Scottie the player he was. MJ pushed Scottie and of course was able to lead by example. Without MJ, I'd venture to say Scottie would not have been the great player he was with the Bulls...

I dont remember that, what year was it? Who did they lose to in the finals? Seems to me they lost to the Knicks when Jordan was out.

He may be a great player one of the top 50 ever but I will always remember him for refusing to go in with 1.7 secs and not be the guy to take the shot. Total punkass thing to do

while that may be true but MJ would NEVER have gotten done what he did without Pippen. they didn't call them the doberman's for nothing.

It was after Jordan retired when the Bulls were one awful Hugh Hollins call away from Eastern Conference Champs (the O.J. year).

Among other things Pippen had a rep as a cheap skate that earned him the nick name "no tippen Pippen" around NBA cities.

That being said he could be a crybaby but the guy was a the prototype small foward ( t-mac,ect) that you see today. super versatile player and had a smooth baby afro for a while.

He was really good when he was in his prime. I think you could have put any "really good" player with Jordan he would have won all those championships just the same. Pippen meshed well with Jordan from a skills stand point though. They were able to play a great style of defense due to the athleticism they both had.
