I like Palmer a lot, and think he brings everything we want in a QB...and he's a pocket passer, so that should make you happy :D . If I was to make the decision, I would also bring Norm Chow with him. I like the way Chow calls a game, and think it would only accelerate Palmer's transition.

I would be happy with this as well. I think Johnson is going to be a star, and I am also high on Boller. Every time I have seen him play, he just makes things happen. The only problem is that if he plays well in the all-star games and does well at the combine, he could move into the late 1st, and we could end up losing out on all the QB's I like (Palmer, Leftwich, Manning, Ragone, Boller). After all, there are a lot of teams with question marks at QB, and for the better one's they may not see QB's of this stature available again for some time, so this is the year to get your guy of the future.

I would say no to Klingsbury. He puts up good numbers, but his arm is weak, and I feel he is very much a system QB. Whenever I see him throw a pass, I just can't help but think that NFL DB's would be taking it to the house. What worries me is that if we go WR in the 1st and miss out on the top 5 I listed above, then we may have to reach on Dorsey or Klingsbury, or even Simms. While I think Simms has the physical skills to be successful, his inability to step up in big games is a major red flag for me.

I agree with this 100%. Besides, I really don't think Foster is done, I believe that everyone is just reacting to the term microfracture. After all, this is the dirtiest of words around here. However, his situation is so much different than the other guys who had negative results for us. So, I think he will be back next year, the only question is if he will be ready for training camp.

Agree a lot with this prediction. Mine would go like this...
    1) Andre Johnson WR - Miami
    2) Rex Grossman or Dave Ragone
    3) Sam Aiken (this guy can play!)
    4) Cobourne or Musa Smith (Ga)
4b) Ty Warren DT Texas Tech or Cedric Harden - DT - Murray St
    5) Derrick Dockery - Texas - G
    6) Michael Waddell - CB - UNC (at least he has tools and its the sixth?)
    7) Michael Haynes - WR - Southern

Grossman needs to stay in. He's not ready.

Ty Warren is not falling out of the top 50.

Your probably correct on both those points.

Grossman SHOULD stay in, but will he?

Ty Warren should go in the 2nd or 3rd in a realistic draft. I'm hoping on that one and thinking that is at the TOP of the 4th too. :D

I'd probably take a year off from being a Panther Fan if we ever picked up Grossman...

On second thought then, maybe we should take a chance on Grossman. :D

Grossman or Simms might be decent one day. Neither are consistent enough for 1st round picks (even low ones) but both should be NFL starters.

Grossman went from WAY TO OVERHYPED, to a little underated in one season. He still fights though so I have warmed to him a bit lately.

Simms has quietly had a very good season. He will always do things quietly but best case he'll be a Brunell type one day. I just hope he isn't a Scott Mitchell. [IMG]

Laugh if you want but Jared Lorenzen is a decent prospect. He could go a lot earlier than people think.

I really don’t see anyone else but Cincinnati and Chicago taking a QB in the 1st and Leftwich Manning and Ragone are on a short list for them. Seattle and Dallas apparently have some interest in Palmer but are probably hoping he’ll fall to the 2nd because of more pressing 1st round needs. That’s only 4 other teams that are even likely to consider a QB in the 1st. If only Cin and Chi take their QBs in the 1st then we would have a shot at either Ragone Manning or Palmer in the 2nd and that sounds pretty good doesn’t it?

Jax and Zona will be looking for QB. With recent developments Palmer will go in the first. Ragone might slip there but neither Manning or Leftwich leave the top 4 picks.

Best option right now looks to be a move down and/or pick of WR in round 1 - QB round 2 and go from there.

BTW: Grossman (if he really is 6-1 200) is basically the same size as Drew Brees, Mark Bulger, Michael Vick, Jeff Garcia, Donnovan McNabb, Steve McNair and Jay Fielder.
I wish he was taller - but I think he can play at a high level in the NFL. He passes with good accuracy and velocity IMO. As a second rounder - he is a bigtime upgrade to what we have.
