Please pardon my spelling. Here's a profile on Kwame Harris.

    http://www.houstonprofootball.com/draft/prospects/kharris.html

Everything I've seen rates him as first to third among tackles in the draft and the most athletic of the bunch.

Oh - that Harris, the Stanford guy. Forgot about him. I'm thinking he's already said he's staying in. Not sure though. He's got the upside, like Foster.

Edit. Don't sweat it. His name is spelled 10 different ways out there.

If we'd have lost last week and the Saints would have won, we'd be looking at the 5th pick right now. Dammit.

Witten is a talent no doubt, but the way Henning uses the TE why bother? I'd certainly take him if we were going to actually use the TE slot for something besides blocking.

Bear says Manning is coming out, let's hope so. He may allow Leftwich to fall (probably not enough for us to get him though). I'd almost be willing to bet the Bears jump on Manning instead of Leftwich simply because of name recognition, they'll have a slew of tickets to sell once Soldier Field is ready.

McGahee says he's staying also. having him and Williams in the draft would have helped push a couple of guys down towards our spot.

Anyway, good catch. If there is a year for a guy to move up at the Tackle position, it's this year. Not a lot of talent at the top end, and most of those are Right Tackle types. Harris is one to keep an eye on.

1.BUNGLES: Carson Palmer QB 6-4, 220 Southern Cal

I could see them trading as you suggest, or taking Rogers. Why Palmer? While everyone suggests they're going QB I haven't found reason to lock a QB in on this spot.

3.HOUSTON Jimmy Kennedy DT 6-5, 335 Penn State

One could dream. As long as they go D we have a chance at getting something to fall.

6.ARIZONA: Terrell Suggs DE 6-4, 255 Arizona State

Good place for him, even though it's a bottomless pit for supposedly great defensive linemen. But taking the past out of it, if Bryant and Suggs are going to be as good as they could be, it would be a leverage point for success defensively.

    7.MINNESOTA: Vince Wilfork DT 6-2, 345 Miami

Kinda surprising, to me, because they have put so many picks into DL. But I don't know where Robbins and Howard are in development, and linebacker's horrible value as well as CB.

    8.CAROLINA: Eli Manning QB 6-4, 210 Mississippi

I'd go with Johnson, but you knew that. Manning would be nice as well, but Fox is probably less likely. Either that or he's just playing a really long version of poker here.

    10.SEATTLE: William Joseph DT 6-5, 300 Miami

Speaking of holes for supposedly good defensive linemen...

11.ST. LOUIS: Jordan Gross OT 6-6, 310 Utah

Probably, yes. Though it's hard to project what St. Louis does. Their only real subpar talent area is here, but a few linemen won't get it done either. I'm trying to think of what else might be top impact, but you're right in that they'll correct for need instead.

    13.BALTIMORE: Brandon Lloyd WR 6-2, 180 Illinois

He'd have to run a hell of a time to be the third WR taken, esp. this high.

14.PATS (FROM BUFFALO): Larry Johnson RB 6-2, 222 Penn State

I guess that follows with rumors that Ant Smith is out.

15.SAN DIEGO: George Foster OT 6-7, 325 Georgia

as a left tackle? or right?
Above Harris? I guess this may have been covered lower.

16.CLEVELAND: Terence Newman CB 5-11, 175 Kansas State

Unspectacular and ho-hum pick. But that's what Cleveland does and somehow makes it look as if it worked well enough to stay mediocre.

17.NY GIANTS: Dewayne Robertson DT 6-3, 315 Kentucky

Interesting. I never had him anywhere near this high but I haven't been keeping up with him. His size will certainly put him up this high if he moves well.

18.KANSAS CITY: Michael Haynes DE 6-3, 280 Penn State

    See above.

    19.NEW ENGLAND: E.J. Henderson LB 6-2, 240 Maryland

This is damn good value. Might as well add a horse to give this defense a face, because if they neglect that D, this team will go downhill. A defensive star to add to a workhorse back is a good start to a draft as well.

    20.DENVER: DeWayne White DE 6-3, 270 Louisville

I'm starting to see a lot of reaches for defensive linemen.
I can only hope, because then we'd be getting better value.

    21.INDY: Boss Bailey LB 6-3, 220 Georgia
    >>Dungy gets his Brooks like playmaker.

    Perfect sense with this one.

No problem at all with the rest.

    1.CHICAGO: Byron Leftwich QB 6-6, 240 Marshall

Bungles will trade down a little for extra picks and look to pick up impact player on defense. Plus they won't want to dole out the money Leftwich will command to play for them. Chicago has a good team but is desparate at QB. Will give up 2nd and 3rd picks to ensure they get their man.

    2.DETROIT: Willis McGahee RB 6-1, 220 Miami

Takes a load off Harrington. Picking Rogers would just create that much more pressure on Harrington.

3.HOUSTON: Charles Rogers WR 6-4, 210 Michigan State

Too much talent not to take. Gives Carr an awesome target

4.DALLAS: Carson Palmer QB 6-4, 220 Southern Cal

Cinci trades down again. Girls can't stand that cross-state rivals have the better QB. Beats Washington outa trade but at a heavy cost. Gives up 2nd round pick and 3rd in 2004.

    5.CAROLINA: Eli Manning QB 6-4, 210 Mississippi

CINN trades down again. Jumps ahead of AZ at a cost. Gives up 2nd in 2003 and 3rd in 2004.

    6.ARIZONA: Andre Johnson

In typical AZ fashion, reaches to replace David Boston

7.MINNESOTA: Jimmy Kennedy DT 6-5, 335 Penn State

    Christmas comes late.

    8. CINN: Terrell Suggs DE 6-4, 255 Arizona State

Or Wilfork. Either way they get their impact defensive player and a boatload of extra picks.

Re: Re: Piper's draft mock draft

I agree with both of these statements. Kitna's done well enough to hold off on taking a round 1 QB. They have too many defensive needs, but I wouldn't be surprised to see them go QB in 2 or 3.

And while many suggest AZ takes a QB, they really like last years 3rd round pick McCown quite a bit. I see them picking up a serviceable veteran and going DL with their 1st pick.

I don't see this at all. They already have too many dollars tied up at QB to take one here unless they are desparate...which I don't think they are. It was expected Hutchenson would struggle this year while he shakes off the rust. Also, much of his problem has been an OL that has been dinged up and provided little protection. When he had time, he did fairly well. Enough I think that they give him another year. Of coarse much will also be determined by whoever their new coach is.

We need to draft LJ and let the old fart throw the ball another year while tutoring a 2nd or 3rd round qb.

I haven't done enough research yet to call this my final answer, but...

1.Chicago trade w/ BUNGLES: Carson Palmer QB 6-4, 220 Southern Cal
Chicago needs a QB, and they need one NOW! Shoop will be gone and I expect the Bears to make a run at Norm Chow after drafting Palmer.

2.DETROIT: Charles Rogers WR 6-4, 210 Michigan State
I'll agree here, although, the Lions might move down for more picks if Parcells is the coach. If so, I expect the Tuna to look for a mid-first O-lineman or TE.

3.HOUSTON Jimmy Kennedy DT 6-5, 335 Penn State
Building block of a potentially superior defense.

    4.Cinncy trade w/ CHICAGO: Jordan Gross OT 6-6, 310
Kitna has earned the starting job and has the support of the players and the organization. They will look to better protect him with this first round pick.

    5.DALLAS:. Eli Manning QB 6-4, 210 Mississippi
Hammbrick will replace Emmit and we all know Jerry likes the popular guys. Ultimately, you'd want a seasoned vet for him to learn from...HOWEVER! If Denny Green is the Boys coach, I expect them to go get him his Black QB and take Leftwich.

6.ARIZONA: Terrell Suggs DE 6-4, 255 Arizona State
Agreed on all counts. Sells tickets and continues the trend of Sun Devils staying at home. Fills a great need.

    7.MINNESOTA: Vince Wilfork DT 6-2, 345 Miami
I'll let this one be, but I wouldn't be shocked to see Tice go with O-line.

8.CAROLINA: Larry Johnson RB 6-2, 222 Penn State
The Only RB in this draft that really fits nicely in this offense. Let's face it, RB is going to be what decides this teams success. Too many questions with our current crew.

    9.J-VILLE: Byron Leftwich QB 6-6, 240 Marshall
Brunell is getting old FAST. They need a guy to see him out. It would be Manning here if Green is Hired in Dallas.

    10.SEATTLE: William Joseph DT 6-5, 300 Miami
Agreed, NO RUN D! Joseph gives them something to build on. Can have a domino effect on his teamates like Peppers did in Carolina.

11.ST. LOUIS: David Porter OT 6-7 320 Iowa
This Kid has skills and he's the second best OT on the Hawkeyes roster. His versatility and athletecism make him valuable, although a slight reach this high...at this point. I am expecting a good combine from him. Chris Doyle will have him ready.

    12.WASHINGTON: Andre Johnson WR 6-2, 220 Miami
Stevil needs to get someone to catch the damn ball.

    13.BALTIMORE: Brandon Lloyd WR 6-2, 180 Illinois
Needs some speed on offense, indeed. I would have thought you would have gone w/ someone else here, but I agree. Lloyd is under rated at this point, but he'll climb.

14.PATS (FROM BUFFALO): Willis McGahee RB 6-1, 220 Miami
I don't see anything small about a 220 pnd. back, McGahee will become the go to guy and give Brady a little breathing room.

15.SAN DIEGO: Vince Manuwai OG 6-2, 295 Hawaii
Fits a need and less of a reach. They'll still need help at Tackle...Pace maybe?

16.CLEVELAND: Terence Newman CB 5-11, 175 Kansas State
Good cover guy with speed can give some special teams play. He SHOULD go sooner, but teams need weights will push him down.

    17.NY GIANTS: E.J. Henderson LB 6-2, 240 Maryland
Giants looking for their new Armstead.

18.KANSAS CITY: Michael Haynes DE 6-3, 280 Penn State
A pass rush would help KC secondary bunches. Agreed!

19.NEW ENGLAND: Jerome McDougle DE 6-4, 265 Miami
Shore up the front for years to come

    20.DENVER: DeWayne White DE 6-3, 270 Louisville
Again, no pass rush for Denver, equals bad defense. You are correct, sir!

    21.INDY: Boss Bailey LB 6-3, 220 Georgia
    Sounds reasonable.

    22. NY JETS Dennis Weathersby CB 6-1, 205 Oregon State
Shores up a thin area for the Jets...with a big physical CB, very Jet-like player.

23.NEW ORLEANS: Gerald Hayes LB 6-3, 245 Pittsburgh
    He's just a NASTY SOB.

24.NEW ORLEANS (FROM MIAMI): Dewayne Robertson DT 6-3, 315 Kentucky
Adds punch up front, and teamed with Hayes...who will try to test the middle!

    25.PITT: Dave Ragone QB 6-4, 245 Louisville
OK for now, he needs a good combine to get up to the first though.

26.ATLANTA: Rashaun Woods WR 6-2, 190 Oklahoma State
At this point, yes...but I expect him to move up come draft time.

    27.SANFRAN - Ty Warren DT 6-4, 305 Texas A&M
Can play DE or DT, good replacement for Stubblefield. Very strong player. 100% on the same page with this one.

28.OAKLAND (FROM TB): Lee Suggs RB 6-0, 205 Virginia Tech
Suggs is the guy that could come in and actually have some job security for a few years, I agree.

29.GREEN BAY: Mike Doss SS 5-11, 200 Ohio State
Eventual replacement for Butler, who is getting long in the tooth.

    30.OAKLAND: Cory Redding DE 6-5, 265 Texas
Defensive line will likely get cut up for the Raiders.

    31.TENN: George Foster OT 6-7, 325 Georgia
I like Foster better down here.

32.PHILLY: Bryant Johnson WR 6-2, 210 Penn State
Woolfolk could go here instead, but Johnson is probably a better value overall.

on second thought, Capers did give up the farm to get Gilbert

    1.CHICAGO: Byron Leftwich QB 6-6, 240 Marshall

Bungles will trade down a little for extra picks and look to pick up impact player on defense. Plus they won't want to dole out the money Leftwich will command to play for them. Chicago has a good team but is desparate at QB. Will give up 2nd and 3rd picks to ensure they get their man.

    2.DETROIT: Willis McGahee RB 6-1, 220 Miami

Takes a load off Harrington. Picking Rogers would just create that much more pressure on Harrington.

3.HOUSTON: Jimmy Kennedy DT 6-5, 335 Penn State

    Capers wets in his pants.

CINN is tempted to take Rogers but trades down again as teams start a bidding war. Panthers win out but give up 2nd and 3rd in 2003.

6.ARIZONA: Charles Rogers WR 6-4, 210 Michigan State

No brainer. AZ replaces David Boston

7.MINNESOTA: Terrell Suggs DE 6-4, 255 Arizona State

    Christmas comes late.

    8. CINN: Jordan Gross OT 6-6, 310

Wilfork stays in school. What ya said McFly.
