I am willing to bet you that 90% of the people on here have experienced soul food and also I will bet you that Boo is in the other 10%.

Hell I have... some corn bread and pintos rule, but what's missing is some mixed green (collards and turnips) flavored w/ fried fatback, and fried potatoes

If you rinse the beans after soaking them the poot factor is greatly reduced. Also cook the beans with chopped onions and bell peppers along with the sliced fat back and these guys are good. Pintos and Lima beans are my favorite unless you have some field peas and snaps

you got to make them from scracth. Canned are decent if you don't have time though.

from scratch they are even better if you leave them in the fridge over night to let the soup thicken up - flavor is much better.

used to live on them in college - house was a gas leak disaster though

you want real gas try some fifteen bean soup - that is some damn good stuff but you will fart and stank for days :thud:

My grandma made a pot of ham and navy beans for me while I was in Arkansas a couple of weeks ago. I'd never had it with navy beans, but they were good, too. A little bit milder flavor. :xyzthumbs
