An interesting tidbit from an observer that watched a pick up game at the dean dome yesterday. Love the fact that Ty and Danny are still hanging out with the team. I'm not convinced they are gone just yet.

Most of the team were scrimmaging in blue heaven this afternoon. It was a nice surprise to see a free pick-up game. I didn't talk to any players, just watched in awe. Jackie da Pope Manuel was playing! Demarcus Nelson came and played too.

    White Team
    Tywon
    Danny
    Demarcus
    Patrick Moody
    Deon

    Blue Team
    Marc Campbell
    Graves
    Marcus
    Jackie!!!!!!
    Tyler

Danny was showing MAJOR range. Had two DEEP threes, a nice reverse layup and a rebound and putback. Led all scorers. Tywon displayed a really nice pull-up mid-range. Only took it to the rim a couple of times, got stripped by Jackie, which led to the fastbreak, game-ending bucket on the other end. Still quick as lightning and an improving J. Demarcus has a very flat shot, but he's solid. Deon was really aggressive, but was getting blocked/fouled a lot by Tyler and Jackie. His shot wasn't falling, but he's seems like he's soooo close to becoming May-like on offense. Patrick was doing all the little things and is a tremendous rebounder.

Tyler was STROKING it from deep. Started off with two outside jumpers. Got a 3 later on and a nice dunk as well. Man is tenacious all the time. He was the only one that seemed to be going hard on defense as well. Played excellent D on Deon. He blocked him cleanly at least two times. Jackie is the man. He was guarding Tywon the entire game, got some steals and blocks, and basically shut down Tywon's penetration (although, I'm not sure if it was Jackie or just Ty taking it easy on the Pope;). Marcus showed a good stroke, made a nice 3 and got loose for a couple layups. Graves didn't do anything noteworthy. I'm not sure if he even took a shot, but he played pretty good D on Nelson and Green.

Anyways, I think it's a great sign that Danny and Ty are hanging around campus and part of the team. I'm not saying we can infer anything from this, but it's clear that they love UNC and the team.

Lawson is the one I would expect to go if any of them does. I've read Denver is looking at him if he decides to stay in the draft. Ellington and Green? Not ready .

I'd expect good things from Demarcus in a pickup game, considering there are no foul shots

I grew up in Chapel Hill and loved to ride my bike uptown to Granville Towers during the summers and watch the current players and former players going at it. Occasionally some of the Duke players would come over as well. Gene Banks was a beast
