A little background. I was raised in a Baptist home, although baptised as a Methodist. I walked away from organized religion 22 years ago after watching my grandmother, the strongest and most wonderful woman in the world be broken down as a result of a stroke, Still today the worst 18 months in my life. I am starting to get the itch to go with my family to church again so I have been trying on churches in my area (South Charlotte, or York and Gaston county) Some of the things I believe in that would influence my beliefs. I am very accepting of all people no matter their race, sex, or sexual orientation. I don't like the way that some churches look down on women and look at them as kitchen help (Old time Presbaterians) sp I don't mind dressing up but wouldn't mind going there in khakis and a polo. I want something that relates to today not 200 years ago. Getting up and down in church continually drives me nuts. Tell me a good story that relates to todays goings on with a good message to get me thinking and I am ok. What denomination or church besy suits me?

find one relatively close to home, one that stands upon the word as its foundation and does'nt compromise the teachings set forth in the bible, one that has a strong pastor who is willing to stand up to big money or any other negative influence. i prefer an open worship, inspiring music, sunday school, annointed preaching and good youth, senior programs, etc. you and i both know that there are'nt any perfect churches out there. a good Assembly of Christ type of church would be my first place to look. good for you!

Covenant Baptist in Gastonia is the church my family helped start after we bolted from First Baptist. They and First Baptist are moderate baptist congregations that offer worship services without all the glitz.

You don't need a denomanation. You need a church you like and that is Bible based. Took me almost 2 years to find one I liked.
