I"m guessing the OLB need. And he's dreamy like n1c|< m4ng0ld!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!111111111111111

I don't see the OLB need to be that great, unless we go away from the expected and put Davis at SS. We have, at least, depth needs at LB, and at most, we do need a starter, but we have guys who can play. Not everybody on the front seven must be a 1st or 2nd round pick or expensive purchase; that said, the same argument works against me for a safety.

Above either, we really need another back. The problem is, I can't stand the backs rated around 27, and tend to like the ones behind them more. But coming up with a RB, LB, and S should give us positive results in any combination.

My biggest beef with Giles is his weight. He's got athletic ability, and is a dominating inline blocker, but against quicker lineman he gets beat when he isn't able to engulf them. Plus, we seem to prefer smaller, quicker guys up front, for better or worse.

We don't really have a huge screaming need at any position, where we have to have a first round starter.

Shelton has not shown anything in his NFL career so far, Foster has never stayed healthy for more than a few games at a time when he has been the starter. Goings is a guy we all like but is not who we want carrying the load for the better part of the season and into the playoffs. I would say that running back is our biggest "need". Some help at SLB and FS would be nice but not absolutely necessary. Even with Keyshawn on board we will struggle if we can not run the ball. I am not saying we have to draft a running back in the first round but we do need to add a guy on day one. We could probably get a good enough guy in the second or third round.

I don't know, but it has nothing at all to do with me pimping him because absolutely no one respects my opinion. :supergrin But yeah, they're being sold on the idea mostly because he fits. SLB is a need (either we get someone there or let Draft slide over and need to get a backup MLB to provide depth with Seward) and Carpenter is basically ideal. I doubt many people have watched him play because he missed the latter part of the season with his leg injury.

I'd go Carpenter then Ryans. Carpenter is going to be a solid player for many years. Not as athletically gifted as Hawk, but more instinctive. He is a sure tackler and decent in coverage as well as a capable pass rusher. He isn't a WOW kind of guy, but he's a blue collar fundamentally sound player...the kind of player Fox seems to love.
Anytime you can get an effort guy with above average skills, you gotta jump on it.
Ryans has a little more WOW than Carpenter and is more athletic. I'd rate them damn near equally and might like Ryans more if I had seen more of him.

I've seen highlights, and done some research, but mostly because everyone says he's very, very good and fills what I consider to be the closest thing to a need the Panthers have. I haven't given up on Shelton, and Foster and Goings are still in the picture. Plus, like Magnus said, I don't like any of the backs at 27. At least, not more than I like Carpenter.

I'm trying to get into this value thing a little this year, I guess.

And I also agree that we should still be able to pick up a decent depth back in the later rounds. I still think I want us to draft Humes, and he should be available around the 3rd or 4th round (preferrably the 4th).

Giles just doesnt fit what we look for in our Lineman. He's not versatile enough. He's that wide load we fans would like to see but he's not the type lineman we target.

Of the guys on that list id like Pope right now.

Williams and White are two id consider trading up for. Especially if we could pull it off for a 3rd and 7th. Doubt that.

Maroney doesnt fit us well either. And while im not as down as mags is on him he'd fit the Broncos or Skins better. But Barber had plent of success as a rookie alos so i wouldnt right him off. Its not just the Minn system.

Lots of smaller backs im just not into. Id rather have Riggs later on and pick up that OLB.

Do we pick up that 220lb power back assuming Shelton aint gonna cut it or do we pick up that 3rd down guy assuming Foster finally steps up and Shelton actually contributes. Then you could look at Calhoun or Drew in round 2 or Harrison later on.

Im just totally turned off Mercedes Lewis, dont want to see that. Especially after Seidman.
