    From ESPN:
The Phoenix Suns are discussing a trade with the Charlotte Bobcats for the No. 8 pick to get into the NBA draft lottery, multiple sources close to both organizations told ESPN.com Tuesday night.

Although Phoenix forward Shawn Marion can opt out of his contract at the end of next season, a source close to the Suns told ESPN.com that he is not part of a Charlotte deal and is expected to stay put.

ESPN's Jim Gray is reporting, however, that Marion could be part of a three-way trade that would land Kevin Garnett in Phoenix. Marion would go to Boston and the Celtics would send the No. 5 pick in Thursday's draft and players to Minnesota.

The Suns source told ESPN.com that role players were involved in the proposed trade with the Bobcats, but at least one other team besides Phoenix and Charlotte is also involved, making the deal difficult to pull off.

The Suns currently own picks No. 24 and 29 in the first round while Charlotte has Nos. 8 and 21. Phoenix convinced the agents for likely lottery players Corey Brewer and Joakim Noah of Florida and Jeff Green of Georgetown to work out for the Suns because they felt confident they could get into the top 10.

So I wonder if this is role players and both 1st for the 8 or that rumored 1 of Suns 1's and Kirk Thomas bullshit for the 8

OK. Maybe I'm just not understanding this deal. The Suns want a lottery pick for some role players and maybe one of their late first round draft picks? We need role players more than a talented player at the 8th spot? (And whoever turned down the 17th pick for May should be demoted to the janitorial dept at the arena)

Even both Phoenix's first rounders plus role players would not be worth the #8 selection. Honestly, I don't understand why the Bobcats don't look at trading #22 for Zach Randolph. I know he's a headcase and doesn't exactly fit in with their defensive philosophy, but they need a low post scorer and he'd be light years better than anyone they can get with that pick.

Randolph is a big time scorer, something the Bobbers need badly. But I'd like to see them go after Rashard Lewis and pay him what it takes to get him. A guy that can score points without the headaches.

I hope they keep the 8th pick and go after Brewer, Green or Julian Wright. Either one of those 3 would fit in nicely on this team. Brandan Wright, I have doubts about. There were a lot of times this past season watching the Heels that I wondered where he had disappeared to.

    ** Resign Gerald Wallace!

If they could get Zach Randolph for the 22 they better jump all over that. Sounds like a dream to me.

Chad Ford is saying we've been offered Monta Ellis and the 18 pick for number 8. I'd have to consider that one pretty long.

As far as trading May for the 17th pick, I don't think I would have done that either. I'm not huge on May, but I can see him going 15/8 for the next 10 years if he stays healthy. I think May can play in the league, he's got a real nice touch for a big man. I'm not sure you get all that much at 17.

I used to get a whole bunch at 17. Granted, we are talking about different things.

The trouble is, much like Dan Morgan, he isn't going to stay healthy. If he played in 80-90% of the games each season he'd be one of the best players on the floor for the Bobcats... but he doesn't seem to be interested in being in the kind of shape that can help take the strain off his knees. So a 17th pick for someone that will able to play a full season for you sounds like a sweet deal at this point.

I am not sure I would trade our #8 draft pick unless we were getting something really good for it. A handful of role players and a late round pick is not going to get it.

I would think about that #17 for May pretty hard. He had weight problems in college and seems to be having them again in the NBA. He will probably never be a reliable player.
