well, i've never really been a chris rix fan. you'll be hard-pressed to find any of those here in tallahassee, as a matter of fact. most folks here just tolerate him. the QBs here have been bood before -- that's nothing new -- but they just didn't go out and lose nine games. it's the boneheaded turnovers that kill the fans and coaches. heck, bobby wanted to pull rix at halftime saturday night, but the assistants agreed to give him one more series.

i'd take matt schaub over rix, too. that dude can pass and has no good receivers. and i'm not dissing rivers' talent -- he's one of the best QBs in college.

there's a whole confluence of reasons as to why fsu is down -- breaking in a new offensive coordinator, losing richt/amato, the death of devard darling, losing two quarterbacks (gambler adrian mcpherson and pro baseball player joe mauer), rix being a combination of stupid/hardheaded/arrogant, the lack of talent on defense. there's PLENTY of reasons for the slump.

but rix has to shoulder some of the blame. he has bad fundamentals, is prone to making turnovers, has the "can't win the big game" rap, doesn't look off his receivers well, is inaccurate, makes poor decisions -- and is, i would say, borderline uncoachable. he's athletic as all get-out, though.

and that's just all the on-field problems.

in my opinion it's never a good idea to retire a player's jersey BEFORE his last game. I don't care how good he is.

Bring him back next year - have a ceremony during halftime to honor him.

Marland wouldn't get off the field before the game so they could have their senior celebration thing. Maryland was on State's side also. Plus Maryland got flagged for something similar last week.
