Allright, educate me. Why is it that Rivers won't make it in the pros? Arm strength? (see Pennington, Chad, Gannon, Rich) Throwing motion? (see Carr, David) I'm not seeing why an intelligent QB with good size, toughness, good accuracy, and 4 years of success at a major college in a pro-style passing offense has absolutely NO SHOT at being a factor in the pros.

Dave's just mad that Bama's getting spanked this year and wanted to take it out on Rivers...

But to answer your ? TBW,

He ain't a Rich Gannon, unless Rich starts taking some of Romo's roids and grows a few inches.

I think Rivers has a good enough arm, he just plays fugly. Gets it done, but it is fugly, and you never know how fugly will go over in the Pros. I think he will have to change his style or he will get a lot of batted balls. But he's a heady player, and that seperates him from guys like Rix.

Anyway, this is what DJ Boyer says about Rivers:

    Philip Rivers/NC State

Positives: Possesses great quarterback size. Has been an extremely productive college player. Shows great awareness on the field and is very experienced.

Negatives: Has a good arm, but not a great arm. Only has average mobility. Has a low release point and an awkward throwing motion.

Overall analysis: Earning a starting position entering his true freshman season, Philip Rivers is one of the younger but more experienced senior quarterbacks available for the 2004 NFL draft. Entering his senior season, Rivers had already totaled 36 career starts and was on the verge of rewriting the NC State record book for passing statistics. Rivers has great quarterback size and is a very intelligent football player. He shows great awareness on the field and rarely makes the big mistake. He also seems to possess good leadership ability. However, Rivers physical tools are good but not great. He also has a very strange throwing motion, and his mechanics will likely need to be reworked once he reaches the next level. It is also worth noting that Rivers is married and has a child, which is considered a positive in the eyes of NFL scouts. If it wasn’t for his strange throwing motion, it’s likely that Rivers would carry a higher grade at this point in time. Even so, considering his overall talent and success as a college quarterback, Rivers figures to be drafted in the late day one/early day two area

Dave, why can't you come to grips with the fact that Rivers is a good QB? Honestly?

Sorry Larry, but they deserve it if they were anything like the no class punk FSU fans I was around at the FSU/Clemson game.

sure he is good...in the ACC. His stats against good teams are not that great.

Dude, FSU is a BCS team. He threw for over 400 yards and 4 TD's. OSU, another BCS team, 317 yards and 3 TD's. What the hell more do you want?
