The coaching search is down to three...Jerry Sloan, Brian Shaw, and Quin Snyder.

Surprised a Duke guy has made it this far. I would go with Sloan if I were making the decision.

Hopefully Shaw out of this group. Sloan is too old at this point. Snyder is a joke.

sloan is old, but that guy commands respect and would be great at creating a winning culture. i like shaw as well, but he is still completely untested as a head coach. i know nothing about snyder, but his resume is pretty fucking light when it comes to the nba. i wonder when he starts.

I would only want Sloan if he were going to be here at least 4-5 years, but at 70 who knows, so his age is something to think about. I like Shaw but you are right, he hasn't been there so he is an unknown. Snyder is interesting, you are correct in that very little on his resume, but he is one of those guys you could take a chance on and be the next big coach.

With all of that said I would take Shaw unless you felt good about Sloan being here for at least 4-5 years.

Sloan's age and his commitment level are big concerns for me. It it were five years ago, I'd be all over taking him. Even now though, I think that of the three he's the best choice.

I`d feel more comfortable going with Sloan. If the BCats could get him for just 3 years then I`d be ok with that. I`m just suprised as hell that he`d even want to come to Charlotte.

i think shaw is definitely the guy people are looking at as having a good shot at being a high level head coach. but even so, sloan already IS a high level had coach. snyder seems like a swing for the fences pick and maybe luck out with a scott brooks.

i suppose in that sense, the three candidates make a certain amount of sense as representing larger collections of candidates.

if you want a veteran head coach, sloan is probably the best guy out there.

if you want a waiting in the wings top level assistant, shaw is your man.

if you want to take a chance and hope to find a diamond in the rough, go with snyder (i'm assuming they like what he's said).

the reality is that there's not an obvious omg, you gotta get so-and-so right now. so while this decision is important, it's not like picking the wrong guy now means they miss out on somebody special.

that said, i like sloan. even if he only hangs out for a couple years, that a couple years of sloan. this team sorely needs somebody to set them straight and teach them fundamental skills. sloan's teams are all about execution. even if you only get a few years of that, it'll stick with you.

i also appreciate his interest in the team. i don't think he's the type to blow smoke, so he must really be interested in having a team he can work with.

but i'd be happy with shaw as well.
