There is no 100 mile limit. It's set diesignated to markets.

To be honest with you I THOUGHT it was like that, but someone said something about the 100 mile deal the other day and since I was unsure about the market thing, I believed them.

Good friend of mine lives on the other side of Raleigh, about 180 miles, the game was blacked out for them last weekend.

Hoover reminds me of Rocky Blair of the old Steelers. More heart and determination than anything. But a great credit to the team's attitude and desire.

Heres a clip from a local affiliate

Here is the scenario: since the 1970 merger with the AFL, which also brought
two networks (NBC and CBS at the time) under the same domain, the NFL has
had the following rule: If a game is not a sell-out 72 hours prior to
kick-off, it can not air in that team's primary TV markets. In this
case, the Panthers primary TV markets are: Charlotte, Raleigh-Durham,
    Greenville-Spartanburg-Asheville-Anderson, Greensboro-Winston-Salem-High
Point, Columbia, and Florence-Myrtle Beach. A primary market is
designated either by its size (how many potential TV viewers it has) or its
proximity to the NFL team's city in terms of miles.
