I only thought it fair to include all that so everyone would know something about where it came from, but I am not comparing Peppers to Williams. There is nothing to compare.

I don't watch film like some of these guys around here, so I thought I'd see what everyone thought.

That's kinda what I've thought, too. Freeney's got two objectives: obliterate the QB, or catch that guy running the ball before he gets by him.

It's not an nfl scout. It's a goober who writes articles for scout.com.

Oh, and it's a totally illogical and somewhat ignorant thing to say of Peppers. Watch how he plays the run on any play and it's clear that he's not giving up on plays or taking plays off. He doesn't have great technique, and probably never will, which makes straight-up doubleteams nearly impossible for him to beat, but when he gets man blocking against the run, he beats it if it goes anywhere near him. He usually makes teams pay when they single-block him and he recognizes it early enough to not anticipate the double team.

No, it's someone an N.C. State site claims is an NFL scout. If I had to put money on who this guy actually works for, I'd bet that he's "employed" not by any NFL team but by one of those draft sites that covers the NFL. That would be a cheap way to claim that he's an "NFL scout" without him actually having any knowledge. That or the guy is a spectacular moron, because that's what his statement implies.

The urge to compare Peppers and Williams is understandable because they do have similar characteristics in body type, but if anything, Williams is a poor man's Peppers. He's not quite as explosive, not quite as strong, not quite as athletic, not quite as fast, etc. That said, he's still a damn good player who should help the pass rush of some NFL team.

I think the knock on Peppers is that you can see how much ability and talent he has and know he should dominate the game. He does not dominate though and therefore people think he is lazy. It is probably not the case but it still looks that way if you do not watch closely. I think he is just not a natural football player but more of an athelete. He may never have the great instincts you would hope for. That does not mean he does not play at a high level and make an impact on most games. It just means he has Michael Jordan ability but not Michael Jordan results.

I don't believe that at all. I mean, while he could perform to a level that would gain more sacks despite the doubleteam, it's not like this guy is a man playing amongst boys. Being able to run a 4.5 at 290 lbs doesn't mean he's going to beat an OT every time, unless it's a foot race. Either way, I've watched some of the best rushers of the last 20 years, from Lloyd to Bruce Smith, to Reggie White, to Kevin Greene, to Derrick Thomas, and I saw a lot of Strahan's sack-record year, and while they all impacted their game more than Peppers, none of them ever dominated a bunch of games and none of them ever struck me as playing on the level being expected. I mean, I've never seen a player live up to the expectations that people have for this guy.
