Got this quote from Scout, but it's an insider article, so I don't have the full context:

"I think you can compare the two. Peppers is a pretty good pro, but I think he is a little overrated. Peppers just takes too many plays off now that he is in the league. I don't know how he was in college, but I think Williams can be better. The sky is the limit for Mario." - A NFL scout on the comparison of Mario Williams to Julius Peppers

Is this a fair assessment of Pep as a pro? I don't really care about the part regarding Mario.

I'm not asking about Williams. I'm asking about Peppers. The whole 'takes plays off' thing doesn't ring true for me.

sometimes I wonder why Pep can't seem to make the play, but then again he's usually double teamed. Does that mean he's taking the play off or that he cant learn to beat the double team. I dont know how anyone could say that, really.

If that guy is an NFL scout then why does he know more about Peppers as a pro and not know how he played in college?

its a fair assesment coming from an NC State based site. No way could they give props to a Tar Heel.

Until Mario shows he can do half the things in the NFL that Pepp can do (and no, Im no UNC fan), there is no sky for him. Mario is nice, but the next level is the next level. pepp has done it at both, and continues to get better.

Goddamn Solarte. Try not to be a stupid fuck. It's an NFL Scout, not a Wolfpack scout. And I'm asking about Peppers, NOT Williams.

do me a favor math, try not to react to me like I am Collin or something. I highlighted that link and it read "northcarolinastate.scout.com" thats why I posted what i did.

No, to answer your original question, I dont think its a fair assessment of Peppers.

    Decaf, brother. Decaf.

    Sometimes here, sometimes there
I've noticed that pep doesn't seem to me to put forth the same effort every play, as some plays he out and out giving it his 'all' (seemingly), then on others its like he half asses it. It seems if he's beat right away, or he can't obviously beat the blocker(s) right off the ball with a lane, he doesn't continue to give his all all the way till the QB passes the ball. Sometimes that's also why a QB will pull the ball down and get by him at times- cause he's standing up straight at that point with the intention of jumping up maybe and blocking the pass. Maybe that's what he's taught to do, but I can tell ya Dwight Freeney don't play like like that. Why that is, I don't know.
