On Pepper's season - I think it's about time a rookie held the sack record. Why the hell not? And Strahan and Sapp can just just shut the fuck up. I must say, I don't like seeing Peppers at LB.

Defensive Player of the Week - He's got my vote.

On the 3rd downs, I don't worry about that. It's just a stat. Like time of possesion and total yards. It's a reflection of your performance somewhat, but it doesn't define the game, the score does, and we're 2-0. The Panthers were able to be patient, take what's there, and not force it when we didn't have to. We've been ahead the whole 2 games, except for the short time Balt had a 7-0 lead, so there's really been no reason for us to get into a MUST on 3rd down conversions. If we played from behind most of the time, then yea, I'd be more concerned. It's not like they're giving up a lot of sacks either.

Besides that, what about the amount of big plays on 1st and 2nd downs, getting big chunks of yardage at a time...... sometimes, never even reaching a 3rd down situation.

Trick plays - I saw a reverse that didn't work late in the game, but a lot teams ran that this week end, Denver 2 times that I saw. But that's not really a "trick" play. Other than that, there wan't any today. If there was, I missed it.

As bad as people say the Lions are, IMO we beat them worse than the Dolphins.

Defense gave only 14 points in 8 quarters of football. I think Morgan and Peppers could make the Pro Bowl, and yes, I'm serious Pep has a shot at the sack record. Del Rio & Fox would just love to put that feather in their cap, so why not?

Forget Lamar's "history" he made the D honest.... TD some decent runs, good blocking... I aint wild about him long term, but he made the difference today on offence... and Moose did not have to go to far out of his way to make a catch... Peete = zero turnovers.... another reason he is ahead of Moose with the game ball... Moose did not guide the offense - Peete did and I'm no long term Peete fan either... just call em like I see em today based on performance... Moose was better than I had hoped, heads above all other Panther receivers - but no game ball.

Game ball - Peppers. He set the whole tone of the game. He makes the DL better. He made plays in the first half, and when he finally drew enough attention, everybody else made plays in the second half.

I still have to add, Morgan is just all over the place.

Agree. It may work for a few plays but in the end it's only a distraction and it will only work if he's coming across the outside. Will it get us a few sacks and a timeout or two? it might. But I don't know that it'll be worth it just yet. He's still at the point where he's buying attention, he's not getting it every down. Only at that point, and especially when he's got the game down a bit better, will him at LB be effective and moreso as a way of making his rush lane a mystery than anything else. To me, it was clear where they were going to bring him if they brought him on that play.

I don't get why they put him at LB if they want him in coverage they could easily blitz a LB and drop him back into shallow coverage for a stunt

the idea there was to hope that he would get lost in the mix - in other words hope they don't see him at end so that when he gets on a running back or TE he'll beat him. But it was noted and picked up by a guard. With a guy like Julius you don't want to blitz him middle.

Media darling Brian Urlacher got 12 tackles and 2 sacks. No way Peppers gets player of the week, but I'll just take the 3 sacks.

Something about the way Peppers made the sacks - he moves so damn smooth. It was like the Matrix on that last one that flattened Mcmahon.

And to think - he could get better.

Media darling or not, Urlacher was awesome in that game. His speed is just unfreaknbelievable. If Morgan is near as good as him in the future, we got ourselves a killer! Urlacher is a bad man.

    Come to think of it...
Our team is quite similar to the Bears. That should be an interesting game later on in the year.
