Peppers makes a clear statement

Fortunately this is something that will be decided on the field and who ends up being right and who ends up being wrong won't be debatable. I am simply stating that I believe next seasons defense will rank higher than 18th in the league. By disagreeing, I assume you take the position that the teams defense will ranke below 18th in the league at the end of next season. My comment was soley related to league ranking, so no need debating "better" or "worse", simply the numerical ranking and I am betting its better.

For the record, I have never accused Peppers of taking any games or plays off. In addition, I am in agreement that he is currently our best defensive player. My comment was simply that Beason is the leader and the heart and soul of the teams defense. He led the team in tackles his first two years and made the Pro Bowl his second year. He will only get better. He will be the teams leader on defense with our without Peppers next season. I am sure we can both agree that Beason's contributions to this teams defense are significant.

Early Las Vegas odds will be out soon enough and we will see if your right. I wonder what the Panther's odds were to make the Super Bowl in 2003. Probably not great. I believe we will be slotted in the middle of the pack in the NFL with regards to making the Super Bowl, and I beleive we will be in the upper third of the NFL with regards to odds to make the playoffs. How will you define "even odds to make the playoffs"? I'd say half the teams in the league have better odds to make the playoffs and half have worse odds. Agreed? If not, what's your definition and then lets assess when the odds come out.

Question.........three of the four teams left in the playoffs have advanced without a great pass rush. I was suprised to see that Baltimore's leading sack man had only 8 and they had only 34 total sacks. Arizona's leader had 5 with 31 total sacks and Phily's leader had 10 with 48 total sacks. Pittsburg was obviously a pass rushing machine. Baltimore's offense averaged 24.1 points per game, Arizona 26.7 and Philly 26 compared to the Panthers 25.9 points per game. My question is are you saying the Panther defense is built around sacking the QB and that without that threat we can't be successful? Because advancing in the playoffs and winning Super Bowls is certainly not tied to having a great pass rusher.

We get pissed when ESPN and Inside the NFL gives us no coverage, but who
can blame them. Now that we won our Division we will play a more difficult
schedule then this past season and will be waiting for another draft and the same old bullshit from Fox.

 

Every team left was in the top half of the league with sack totals, and the Eagles and Steelers were both in the top 5. Being in the top five would indicate well above average to great pass rushes, so maybe you'd want to knock that down to two of the four advanced without great pass rushes. The Eagles rotate a ton with their defensive linemen, thus giving any players less of a chance to get 10+ sacks.

I don't really agree with that, but it's possible. Lewis, and then adding in Herm Edwards, wouldn't be terrible, but then we're letting a player dictate our scheme and we're putting a number of other players in bad-fitting positions.

Jenkins in a 3-4? Sure, maybe.

Brayton in the 3-4 wouldn't be terribly bad. Kemoeatu playing in that scheme, it's hard to say, but he didn't start but a few games in the Ravens' 3-4 under Nolan. It was under Ryan that he started, in the 4-3.

 

not that we have the linebackers, but with Jenkins it seems they could put together the line
