Yeah, we already gave away Jenkins for virtually nothing. You think some people would have learned their lesson. Obviously, this is different, but it's laughable to just let him walk without even trying to work something out.

especially pending an uncapped year, which is literally the best possible situation to have to hold $20 mil on a player for a bit.

oh i fully expect him to be tagged. from what i recall the titans had promised fat albert they would not tag him again, and he got his freedom. there have been no such comments here.

my hope for it, assuming he's tagged, is they work out a deal. but be reasonable, how much will it be? some of the criticisms have validity, and he is no longer a youngster by nfl standards.

if it's a sign and trade, we better not piss away the draft picks on silly shit we don't need. if we are getting players instead or in addition, same thing applies. i guess in other words, i don't want to see us duped by a smarter team, or making a desperation deal, into a 3rd and 5th and someone on the level of a kellen clemmons.

and in no way do i want him here for 20+ million.

At some point it is bad for team morale to spend so much money and energy on one guy, especially when that guy's commitment is sometimes questionable. I would love to get something for him but at the same time I want to see this settled.

wrap him up at 15-16m per. letting him go trumps the delhomme deal.

If they don't tag him and let Peppers walk, then the Panthers are going to be sold. The only reason the Panthers wouldn't tag him is if they were dumping contracts and preparing to sell. It makes no sense to let him walk and get nothing for him considering there is no cap. It would be the same as waiving a white flag and saying we give up, come buy our team.

Tagging him is a huge risk. What happens if we tag him, and no one wants to trade for him (like last year ?). Then we have to eat a 20Mil lazy sandwich.

Signing him to a long-term contract isn't likely ( he wants to be the highest paid defensive player..he's NOT worth it).

Just letting him walk also blows, as we get nothing ( except a comp. pick).
AND he could end up in Tampa or ATL or NO.

    There are no good options.
