WFNZ reports Rodney Peete has been named the starter for the Detroit Game.

    Is this news to anyone?

Peete will probably get two losses before he's pulled. Then he'll become the honorary scapegoat one more time and sit the year.

Depends on how many wins he has before those 2 losses... if he can pull off an upset or 2 then he may last the season

    We have a qb controversy.

I've got this funky feeling that Peete will be benched because he will have an injury, probably before game 5. I've got nothing at all against this guy and I hope he does not get hurt. Just this funny feeling I got.

I'll break down what I mean a little:
Sun, Sep 8 Baltimore W 10-7 (This was his first)

Sun, Sep 15 Detroit (Okay if Peete helps the team win this one... and good chance they do its 2)

Sun, Sep 22 at Minnesota (This is upset number 1 I was talking about... while I think there's a DAMN, DAMN good chance our secondary gets burned it MAY just be possible... we'll be coming in underestimated because our only wins so far are the Ravens 0-2 at that point and the Lions 0-2)

Sun, Sep 29 at Green Bay (Not a chance in hell... welcome back to reality... this is Peete's first loss, but an EXPECTED loss so it doesn't take away QUITE as much of his thunder)

Sun, Oct 6 Arizona (I see a win here I just don't think the Cards are good at all)

Sun, Oct 13 at Dallas (See: Houston Texans)

Sun, Oct 20 at Atlanta (Vick gets harassed by our blitz package... Peppers runs him down for a sack when he scrambles... Pepper's first big highlight reel in this one)

Sun, Oct 27 Tampa Bay (Here's Loss number 2... one week before the Bye... but at this point we're 5-2... hypothetically... and if we're at this point even with a second loss Peete keeps the job till AT LEAST week 12 but we'd have to loss 5 games in a row... wouldn't be surprise... for that to happen)

To be honest I could see our season going like this... and I also wanted to note that while going over this I noticed the first 1/2 of our season is MUCH MUCH easier than the second and we could legitmately have a winning record when we reach the break.

    Huh?

    Anyway...

Peete isn't in the best shape in the world, a little bit flabby. He's 36. He's not as mobile as he once was. And in his prime, he had a propensity for some injuries.

Add all those things together, and their is an extreme likelyhood that he will get hurt.

yeah, there's no "r" (or "rrr-uh" if you're a black schoolteacher, and most of mine were) in hmm. That was always odd.

hell, I don't even think we have a controversy. We know Peete won't last but so long, we know that Weinke isn't where he should be, we know Fasani will take a while to be ready and by that time we'll probably have a higher talent player in place.

I think I'm giving up on Weinke.
Leftwich is interesting. Of the potential sucky teams we may be the team that needs a QB. Texans wouldn't. Detroit wouldn't.
Well, Jacksonville will suck, and Brunell's older. So they would be in the market. I don't see KC being in a position to wait on a young guy, and they should be taking off I guess.

    Cincy?
